Title: Koths Kustoms
Post by: koth on July 08, 2013, 06:07:32 AM
Hello. I have been a lurker on ISY for a while and placed a few posts and I am finally able to offer up a few of my customs for your pleasure and criticism.

As much as I love Star Wars the Clone Wars figure line was interestling but not an area of collection for me. So, a lot (not all) of my customs are CW inspired.

I love head swapping, and am getting into better paint techniques and try the odd bit of sculpting with varying levels of success.

Here's a couple of my most recent completions, but I have an extensive back catalogue to offer

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Jedi/b89375fa-6c0c-4d31-953e-05cc24296e52.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Jedi/b89375fa-6c0c-4d31-953e-05cc24296e52.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Jedi/Barriss3.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Jedi/Barriss3.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Jedi/Barriss2.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Jedi/Barriss2.jpg.html)

Barriss Offee from 'The Wrong Jedi'
This was my second attempt, the first being a poor sculpt with milliput. I think the 'hairband' is a bit too small in comparison with the real thing but I wanted to accommodate the size of the hair.

Wow, that facial work looks spot on to me.

Welcome to ISY and your first post is on the front page and our facebook page.

Gordon Bennett! front page first time phew!

Just to clarify, I don't want to overblow my talent it is a VC Barriss head with CW Boba hair with a bit of milliput round the edges.
My sculpting is not THAT good.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Title: Asajj - My Muse
Post by: koth on July 12, 2013, 04:04:00 AM
Hi there
Here's my favourite customs recently Asajj Ventress in Teth outfit and Asajj Ventress in Dathomir outfit

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Dark%20jedi/fd9c7d4c-bc96-4870-a4fe-133b07499010.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Dark%20jedi/fd9c7d4c-bc96-4870-a4fe-133b07499010.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Dark%20jedi/42280bd0-e6ac-4af2-8656-ee9240bc795f.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Dark%20jedi/42280bd0-e6ac-4af2-8656-ee9240bc795f.jpg.html)

I finished Teth a few months back but only added the 'back' recently, Dathomir, however was my favourite to do and the fastest custom completed in about a week. Had a bit of trouble with the skirt (Ahsoka VC) but it turned out good. These are my two most favourite customs above my Clones.

One final one for now: Savage - Maulquest

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Dark%20jedi/c104f068-7437-4df6-b27c-72c6cd9924f3.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Dark%20jedi/c104f068-7437-4df6-b27c-72c6cd9924f3.jpg.html)

Built up the eye a while back but forgot what colour (Yellow, Black, Purple?) it should be till I rewatched the episode again the other night.

Beautiful job!!! I really love that Dathomir Ventress   >:D and I've wanted to see a Savage like yours for a long time!!! Keep up the great work!!!  ()rr

Cheers. The Dathomir Ventress was a beaut to create. It culminated from the paint job on the Teth version. Plus the fact there was a good deal of Ventresses on Fbay. I didnt know what else to do Savage. If I can find a robotic arm I'll make the next one.

Here are a few of my cloneheads! I'm trying to broaden the look and make unique. These are base painted Cadian Fleshtone.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Clone%20Troopers/e46cab79-2979-47a8-8f17-e443f016c8d6.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Clone%20Troopers/e46cab79-2979-47a8-8f17-e443f016c8d6.jpg.html)

 (l-R)
 Teth trooper - Stubble,
 Kamino trooper - whitening temples,
Keeli - I replaced Jays original CW head with a cast from Sithhappens (sorry Jay)
Waxer version 3 - cast by Sean Hunter
 Ganch - modded VC45 sculpt

Here's an older pic of Slicks troops. These are just touched up!!!

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Clone%20Troopers/Picture019.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Clone%20Troopers/Picture019.jpg.html)

 Jester, Slick, Punch, Sketch

I have done Gus and Chopper since this photo was done but they need a redo as not happy with their fleshtone.

I have a good selection of SW customs anyone care to suggest what they'd like to see?

Great job!!!  No slight on anything, just an observation - #3 and #5 look like variation on George Clooney.  #5 reminds of "Oh Brother, Where Aret Though".  And #4 looks like another actor I can't quite place.  Again no slight on your work.  What's interest is that it goes with the idea as clones grew older and achieved their own personalities, I would believe that slight shifts in their facial structure or basic look would exist.  Hasbro has variations (ie standard clone a few years ago vs. the Vintage line or even the standard clone trooper vs. galactic clone trooper) but I very much doubt it was on purpose.  More likely in how helmets fitted on to the different types of figures.  Anyway, just my thoughts.  I do utilize the different head sculpt idea in a couple sets of clones I have.
Title: Re: Koths Kustoms
Post by: koth on August 05, 2013, 11:42:46 AM
Cheers JediMinstrel. No offense taken. I'm actually quite pleased you think they look like someone. Mind you if I tried to make them look like anyone I wouldn't be successful.
I'm trying to get my troops just to look different given my favoured troop is the VC15 (?!? I think) trooper with hip joints, the last phase 2 trooper before the VC45 long legged mold.
So the head I have in abundance is the Jay alaagaya head. In completing Rex's head I accidentally shaved off his bottom lip so he has an interesting expression!

Thanks all. I'm usually led by inspiration to the limit where I get bored. Hence my shelf-load of half-completed clones  :P, bit this one was relatively easy and quick.
Moved back on to astromechs now.

Hi all

just having returned from 'holiday' from 'Heartlake City' with my daughter I found a bit of inspiration in the 6-pack news and posted my lot of Astromech customs.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/8f70f674-5fd7-42bf-b5fa-d166e44f7376.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/8f70f674-5fd7-42bf-b5fa-d166e44f7376.jpg.html)

 From top left - R2-F5, R3-G3, R5-Z9, Microseries R5, R5-S9, Gold 2s R2, CW droid
 Yodas droid, R2-G2, (R4-S5) Aayla's, R2-T4, R5-U8 CW, CW Droid, R2-711
 Dorovio's Droid, Hoth Droid, Kai's Droid, R2-B6 Bespin Droid, (R3-H1) Home 1
 (R3-L1) Home 1, R2-D1, Tatooine Droid, R2-V3, (R2-G3) Yavin

This is my family of droids (less 3 droids using Disney parts). A mix of referenced droids and self created characters.
The only one I didn't make was Kai Justiss's Droid (red and Yellow, 2nd row)
Droid names in (brackets) have been sourced from the internet but not sure if official.

 Here's a close up for a couple

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/924813e3-ceb3-4954-97a3-5d0b69813593.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/924813e3-ceb3-4954-97a3-5d0b69813593.jpg.html)

Wraith9 helped me out on some extra parts but R2-T4 came together really well. He was finished about 4 months ago.

My other piece of inspiration recently came from The Yoda Chronicles where, this week, I put together (R4-Bad1) Badawan - geddit?

 (http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/c591e39e-761f-492b-811e-0d13082ccdfc.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/c591e39e-761f-492b-811e-0d13082ccdfc.jpg.html)

Just realised I need to touch up his eyes.

 Have fun all.

Hi Guys
I’m back from the sunny lands of Lego and ‘Heartlake City’ with my daughter and have just enjoyed two weeks catching up on Star Wars customising, partly inspired by getting Clone Wars season 5 on DVD and seeing everyone elses fantastic season 6 customs (I’m looking at you, Jay ;) )
So in two weeks I worked through loads of my outstanding customs which I will be sharing with you. Season 5 was utterly blinding in terms of character and storytelling, and also saw the end of some of my favourite characters. I haven’t watched all of the arcs yet, I went straight to the money and feasted on the Mando and Maul arcs. Words cannot describe the love I have for what Dave Filoni and his guys did here.
So on to the customs:
Speaking of Mandos I had to finish my earlier Deathwatch figures.
Tor Vizsla and his Mercenaries

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/058b90d2-b387-482c-b60e-6129164cd387.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/058b90d2-b387-482c-b60e-6129164cd387.jpg.html)

I finished the guy with the purple bandana a few years which shows how long these have been hanging around. I finally got to adding the shoulder paint on him. Tor and the other guys had their heads finished and Tors head had a magnet fitted in the neck so its an easy swap with the helmet.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/18c0d92a-c3c7-4298-876d-8d3660918f80.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/18c0d92a-c3c7-4298-876d-8d3660918f80.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/19509e7c-d2f3-4480-9e2e-8d91515f0e50.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/19509e7c-d2f3-4480-9e2e-8d91515f0e50.jpg.html)

The Helmet is a Jedimaster Ben sculpt for the GoodToGo days.

Here's Tor Vizsla on his own
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/f3c1b8f8-a9e3-4579-9b68-2278ae70404f.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/f3c1b8f8-a9e3-4579-9b68-2278ae70404f.jpg.html)

...And heres the update

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/418650b4-80f2-4747-85d2-4ddc2cbf2ed4.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/418650b4-80f2-4747-85d2-4ddc2cbf2ed4.jpg.html)

The blue trooper has been finished a while and has a lego shield. He is also clean. The red trooper is weathered, which is not my favourite bit, but I have learned, and have to take confidence in the fact that its not that bad.
Satine's outfit is a play on hers previous seasons outfit inverted.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/74f6720c-19dc-4668-aed8-f52187e3f7c2.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/74f6720c-19dc-4668-aed8-f52187e3f7c2.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/88ea9758-8166-481f-9a8c-4718b51f3aaa.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/88ea9758-8166-481f-9a8c-4718b51f3aaa.jpg.html)
A couple of close ups.

Finally for tonight, my inspiration for finishing Bo Katan came from Darth Daddy and Clone Commander Jays rendition.
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/30e3c85a-7c06-4574-a372-555aef4863ee.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/30e3c85a-7c06-4574-a372-555aef4863ee.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/f5a08824-719b-4931-a85e-5b0b67ee088f.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/f5a08824-719b-4931-a85e-5b0b67ee088f.jpg.html)

I was asked whether I would amend the hair. At the time I said no because the helmet, now finished, fits snugly. But I was inspired and came up with this.
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mandos/53bd758b-9f9a-4998-8777-c63c685f83d4.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mandos/53bd758b-9f9a-4998-8777-c63c685f83d4.jpg.html)

That's all for tonight, see ya tomorrow

Awesome, work. You've just completed Two of my current projects, Bo Katan and Obi Wan in Mando gear. Great looking figures. I'll post Pictures of mine when I'm done, might be a bit though. Just got my female mando gear today from CLONEHEAD, and I'm looking for a TCW Obi Wan head, but I'll be working on the body tonight.

Post by: koth on March 28, 2014, 05:29:46 PM
Cheers Hanzo. As much as I like the Clone Wars I wish the figures had been movie style. It would have saved me a job in customising. The Obi-Wan was a strange find because in the raft of Obi-Wans that have been released, and there were a few in quick succession, this one was so unique.
Cloneheads gear is great, I have a few helmets.

I will be honest, I don't think I would change the hair on that head. If anything maybe just get another head to put on there like Shae Vizla or the Avengers Widow or maybe even that new Marvel Aurora (per CH's latest parts post) would look good painted up.

Clone Troopers are my joint favourite customs so here's a batch I finished in my two week marathon. Again, these were started a while back but only got round to finishing them.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Clone%20Troopers/74f92236-a058-471c-9f86-3183fe4e255e.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Clone%20Troopers/74f92236-a058-471c-9f86-3183fe4e255e.jpg.html)

Gregor, Lock, Banks, Wolffe and Havoc.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Clone%20Troopers/8e9700f5-bb8e-4439-90bc-17b9e283cc04.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Clone%20Troopers/8e9700f5-bb8e-4439-90bc-17b9e283cc04.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Clone%20Troopers/9d60998b-bc57-4f4f-9607-ecaaad4854d9.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Clone%20Troopers/9d60998b-bc57-4f4f-9607-ecaaad4854d9.jpg.html)

As I said before I hate weathering. Gregor came out OK and I am happy with the result.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Clone%20Troopers/f5d6a52b-9ebe-463a-8914-82c6313f365a.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Clone%20Troopers/f5d6a52b-9ebe-463a-8914-82c6313f365a.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Clone%20Troopers/2d2efd6c-36cc-4b59-a045-51f82d768730.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Clone%20Troopers/2d2efd6c-36cc-4b59-a045-51f82d768730.jpg.html)

I wanted to do a different version of Wolffe and used the aerial assault helmet on Evolutions body. Havoc is a hotch potch of ideas. I started doing the Turbo Tank Crew, with black shoulders and looked around for a way to make the CW style chest armour but to no avail. As I had a spare Keller I decided to use this a alternate armour. Finally, Havoc had such distinctive head paint I had to incorporate into this guy.

My final one for today as a total scratch built.

Happy Mothers Day to your wives and mums in the UK.

Hey great work on your customs! Really liking the mandos! I always hated those solid sculpt Jango Fett legs, but with your paint I would have no issues proudly displaying those on my shelves :D Keep cranking out the excellent ideas!

Thank you. I am working on two more Mando's which are part painted at the mo which you will see soon. Shame they are not so vivid as the Clones. The Supercommando has a good colour scheme.

So here's my final batch of figures I completed in my two week marathon.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Tatooine/05e5a447-ab6f-4804-a8c5-84eae6a669cd.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Tatooine/05e5a447-ab6f-4804-a8c5-84eae6a669cd.jpg.html)

R2-O1 (Jabbas drinkserver)
Delta Squad R5 - U8-C4? Working slowly through the Delta squad when I get the fodder.
and R2-CQ. I didn't like the head that came with Yoda's Starfighter so I came  up with this chequerboard Idea. But I didn't have a body. After abandoning several Tatooine and Rebel R5s I put it to use to finish CQ. I may revisit with a checquerboard design later.

Other styles of figures I touched on during this time is 5inch

The War Doctor set came with The War Doctor, Moment and alternate head for Doctor 8. Paul had to have a body so this is a 'Dark Eyes' rendition using a 'Primeval' figure.

And if you were wondering what I was doing with my daughter and her lego...
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/28848189-1fb5-4336-8d0c-b3aff4744bad.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/28848189-1fb5-4336-8d0c-b3aff4744bad.jpg.html)Surf dudes and life guard.

The only other figure I did but haven't photod yet is my Nightsister Caris.

Finally, here's a teaser for later. A clone I'm working on.

Which reminds me I must dig out the Baron Tagge I made using the head you sent me.

I should post some of my 1990s Next Generation figures as a contrast.
Its also about sharing customs in places like here and getting inspiration, and sharing ideas.

Here's an update for you. First off here's another side of R4-CEII and the Hoth Droid

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Internet/389f33c5-20ee-4120-8917-2aedcaa7cbfb.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Internet/389f33c5-20ee-4120-8917-2aedcaa7cbfb.jpg.html)

As you can see R4-CEII is only CEI due to the lack of I! The hoth droid, in all the photos I've seen is working downwards so his head is the other way around.
Both droids are BAD constructs

Baron Tagge
Head - Darth Sinister custom sculpt
Belt - AT AT Commander of some description
Rest - Imperial Scanning Crew

Some of the most interesting characters came from the Marvel years and was Star Wars to me growing up. I never knew why he never made it to action figure status.

Cheers for the head Charlie, however long ago it was. (I did finish Akmena too, which is somewhere about)

Finally today, here's the one I've been a bit brown pants over. My dremeling skills were put to practice and it would have been an expensive fluff if I messed it up.

Jek-14 Clone Trooper from The Yoda Chronicles
Head - Jai Clone head
Helmet - Phase II bucket
Left Arm - Holo Cody Arm
Rest - VC15 Clone Trooper

I can't ignore EU (as you can guess from my R4-Bad1 custom) and as I love Clones Jek-14 had to be made. He does sport a white lightsabre as well but as this was not in the show I didn't include it.
His astromech is R4-G0 and for all you droid lovers heres a close up.

R4-G0
Build a Droid parts

The head started out being a black Tatooine droid but I couldn't get the body correct so I repainted the head for this guy and the body went t R2-CQ.

Hope you enjoy this update. I have completed a few more recently and will post my Yakfinities entry too.

The Yoda Chronicles are quite a chuckle but if the story line was serialised or moviefied I think it would be quite impressive. To think having a Sith Clone in Clone Wars or battling Ewan McGregor on the big screen. I'd go fo it.

Love the astromechs and the Doctors.
Where did you find the name of the bartender astromech?

Nice job on Baron Tagge too.  Did you do a lot of prep work on the ball joints?  Obviously, because they look perfect.
Title: Re: Koths Kustoms
Post by: koth on July 21, 2014, 01:32:15 PM
Thanks Sjefke
With Tagge I didnt prep his joints. I think I had to do something with the waist, it was a while back now.
I undercoated white to get a good red uniform colour on the uniform. I dont think ive even hardcoated him.

There are two names going round for Jabbas astromech. I favour R2-O1 as its not only the first I read but the other source is a bit spurious. My family of droids a few pages back have a few names in brackets because I question their authenticity. Same as R2-H5.

Thanks for your comments Sjefke

As part of the Yakfinities custom challenge for Merchants I present Gethir Magan, the Slave Trader and resident of Mos Cairo and his Guards.

Gethir Magan is a ruthless trader who trades in slaves and information. He is very successful and is always protected by his Aqualish guards. Magan has a good line of burly fighters and female attendants/entertainers. A bounty was once put on his head but was swiftly paid off by Magan himself, or did something happen to the placer of the bounty?  He is known to the Empire...

Head - Kyle Katarn
Sleeves - WWE Figure
Rest - Wolverine

Mos Cairo is my intended diorama (in the works for the past X years) which allows all my SW and IJ figures to mix. Gethir and the Guards have been sidelined fodder for an age, I'm glad they have now been finished.

--- Boring Doctor Who Headswaps ---

I picked up two 50th Anniversary sets yesterday

and with the other one I bought for myself I did a bit of headswapping.

10th Doctor with Coat and Glassess
 10th Doctor au naturel
11th Doctor with Brown waist coat and red tie (similar to the Hide set Doctor but not Grey waistcoat)
11th Doctor (The Big Bang) with Fez (and painted blue tie!)

The good thing about this series is its totally different from the Smith era which wasnt giving many answers. It is a bit too Clara heavy, but some interesting stories nonetheless.

With the news Funko 7 ReAction wil be releasing Star Trek Next Generation figures in their next wave I have decided to clean up my 1990s customs.
I lived and breathed Next Gen, especially at the beginning when the series was released on video through rental stores here in the UK.
The Galoob figures were equally as sparse where only the first three figures got a limited release here. I eventually bought the whole wave from Intergalactic Traders in Florida. This set actually came with a customised series 2 Riker, which I still have MIP!

This gave me the idea to make my own figures especially as some of the key characters never made it to plastic.

My paint of choice in the 1990's was enamel. (Eeeew! I hear you cry. Don't worry I've learned my lesson.) So I had a few bad starts with Deanna and Beverly Crusher but hit gold using the Kate Macrae head for Doctor Pulaski. Black Hole figures faced to chop as I made a few more customs, head swapping.

Now, I'm turning my attention to those bad paint job characters that are screaming for a refresh and give them the justice they deserve.

The list of figures are Season 2 Geordie and Worf,Thomas Riker, Lance Herbert (Bridge Regular), Lt Picard, Lt Forthol (comics), Pulaski, Troi and unnamed medic.

These have all had a covering (or 2) of enamel.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Next%20Gen/3735f1d2-2d6d-4974-b335-4ec55f770833.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Next%20Gen/3735f1d2-2d6d-4974-b335-4ec55f770833.jpg.html)
I have started with Geordie, Worf, Riker and Herbert and soaked and scrubbed them in Fairy power spray. I am looking for before photos of these guys and will post if I can find. Their quality was bad. Herbert was originally Charles Pizer painted pink for a Zeltron, painted flesh. Worf had 3 coats  of paint!! They have all come up really well, a little brown still visible but still removable.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Next%20Gen/e61c030b-c9e5-4f44-af6a-ade9e4addb8e.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Next%20Gen/e61c030b-c9e5-4f44-af6a-ade9e4addb8e.jpg.html)
Picard, Pulaski, Forthol and medic in line for a clean. Troi will also get the same treatment although I tried to tidy her up and have recently given her an upgrade with POTC head.
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Next%20Gen/69065151-f1e8-487c-845b-87b14c504a97.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Next%20Gen/69065151-f1e8-487c-845b-87b14c504a97.jpg.html)
As I'm sure you can see the paint work is uneven and lumpy. Over the holidays I hope to complete these guys and gals and make them sharp.

Cheers

The cleaning process was pretty easy. The figures had a soak in the power spray for a couple of hours before being scrubbed with an old toothbrush.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Next%20Gen/d9fdc0f6-4cc4-4287-9374-2a79f619877b.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Next%20Gen/d9fdc0f6-4cc4-4287-9374-2a79f619877b.jpg.html)

A couple of figures took a couple of soaks to get all the paint off. Only a little of the galoob figures lost some paint from their uniforms. Their heads were ok and didn't lose anything unlike the Black Hole figures who needed their hair touched in.

One thing I am surprised at is how well this power spray cut through 3 layers of enamel paint. Thanks to the guy in my local Warhammer store for the tip.

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Next%20Gen/c6be18e2-23a7-475b-9dca-2695725fd550.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Next%20Gen/c6be18e2-23a7-475b-9dca-2695725fd550.jpg.html)

So all figures cleaned I'm now ready to start painting. I've matched the brown uniform colour and identified an olive green for the Forthol figures skin. The only problem I'm having is with Deanna Troi. I need to give her one more soak and will then need to reconstruct her.

More to come...

Thanks Ron. I've not been one for revisiting old customs but it had to be done. My newer customs were showing the older ones up. I also caught the Tom Riker episode on telly the other night. I forget how much fun they were.

I've lost the will to live a bit with my trek customs as I'm having to rebuild Deanna Troi from scratch.

So, I have been diverted by a custom I've wanted for years. I've even approached people to make one for me to no avail. It's my favourite Marvel character, primarily because the first incarnation was one of my first customs and easy to make.
Here's the start!

I've added the replacement head after making a sufficient sized hole and used milliput to seal it. I've been quite happy at my molding attempts in the past, more like surprised, and so I have decided not to let my nerves hold me back.

Also, here's a completed Xasha, Boba's girlfriend, from TFUII Comic.

I like all of these! Buck Rogers head on the Fett figure. I used to have a lot of the Buck Rogers figures. I think all I have left is Twiki, TigerMan and Draco. Is the Ric a Flash Gordon figure? It looks familiar too.
Title: Re: Koths Kustoms

Thanks for your comments. You make me see them in a different light, what with the resurgence of Kenner style and all.

Charlie, Top marks for identifying the Buck Rogers head. Rik is actually a General Zod figure. I'm not sure which range. As a kid he fit the bill. Along the way his hair got a paint over and went to see 2-1B about his leg. Dani was a Fisher Price Adventure Person with an enamel mix.

Wasn't Celebration great? From my warm seat in South Wales UK, I was able to see most of what was going on. Weren't the trailers good? Looking forward to both The Force Awakens and Rebels series 2, even though I haven't see series 1 yet.
I was very disappointed to see the new Commander Wolffe, stunted that he is. I saw my question was made to Hasbro who didn't have a clue what the problem was. Is it just me? I don't think so.
This got me on a research wheel to find a resolution to Wolffes problem. I'm not very good at swapping parts especially with these clones. The way they are put together means, as some of you know, the way to open them up is a bit invasive and may not be condusive to being reusable.
So what could be the replacement? Like the makers of Rebels and Episode VII I went back to the original material, Mr R McQuarrie and sought out the Hoth Trooper.
Whilst researching I also came across a peculiar astromech. At the 2003 Megacon The Florida Wolfpack were there on hand in their Legion Cosplay with an astromech called Wolfie!
You may know of my other love - astromechs - and I have been a bit busy.

Here for your delectation is Comet, Tracer and Wolfie!

Their noses will have a makeover when I fell the urge and then I can complete the face paint.

Its also great to see a new wave of BAD Disney figures. A bit of a shame they are not 100% the same, but there are workarounds. (I'm more worried about the smaller 3rd leg but lets see.)
This has given me an opportunity to stocktake my BADs and found some spares I came up with R2-K8.

M5-BZ,   R0-TC,  R2-CK,  Blue Leader,  Courier

M5-BZ is a Delta Squad droid (hatch not removable)
R0-TC is based on the Y-Wing Fighter from the Original Trilogy Collection (hence the name)
R2-CK is a checkerboard design to go with my black and white R2-CQ. He's supposed to be more industrial.
Blue Leader is from a design in a Y-Wing model used in the Battle of Yavin. Luke Sprywalker has also done a custom of him.
Courier is from Rebels. Now looking for another Chopper to repaint.

Title: My Force Friday!
Post by: koth on September 15, 2015, 10:55:53 AM
Did we all enjoy Force Friday? It was a bit more miss than hit in Western England, where I shop mostly. Met a few nice people at hangover time (around 8am Friday) all looking for 6 inch figures.

Amongst the TFA figures I managed to buy early I bought one set on Friday, and one set I'm not going to buy...

(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mobile%20Uploads/056c4338-d960-4fe8-b0c5-9d5412a68a0c.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mobile%20Uploads/056c4338-d960-4fe8-b0c5-9d5412a68a0c.jpg.html)
Here are a few customs inspired by Force Friday.
C3PO, Chopper, Lasat and Trandoshan.

The Zeb/ Chopper set went to making these guys. I wanted another Chopper to repaint. I've included the Courier again.
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mobile%20Uploads/3c6b12b5-3b53-4841-8bf3-8c311c39e576.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mobile%20Uploads/3c6b12b5-3b53-4841-8bf3-8c311c39e576.jpg.html)(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mobile%20Uploads/f0fbd335-85da-4ed7-b776-8e90df392bc0.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mobile%20Uploads/f0fbd335-85da-4ed7-b776-8e90df392bc0.jpg.html)
The Lasat was really annoying as I fluffed his legs up when removing. He doesn't stand up properly but I managed to get him into a jaunty walking position.
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mobile%20Uploads/9ac70c1d-6e9c-408d-a78d-f011976b6e71.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mobile%20Uploads/9ac70c1d-6e9c-408d-a78d-f011976b6e71.jpg.html)
In expanding my Trandoshans I used Zebs body. Still needs a bit of paint.
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mobile%20Uploads/054520a3-b2e2-45d5-a54a-ee510ef9ec79.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mobile%20Uploads/054520a3-b2e2-45d5-a54a-ee510ef9ec79.jpg.html)

Finally, this will be a set I'm not buying. The rubbish set of R2-D2 and C-3PO is not worth £15.99!!!
(http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/koth_2008/Mobile%20Uploads/c309f179-8307-4caa-b192-8cecb0889afc.jpg) (http://s421.photobucket.com/user/koth_2008/media/Mobile%20Uploads/c309f179-8307-4caa-b192-8cecb0889afc.jpg.html)

Thanks Starchaser. I think it was serendipity, the error actually gave it a bit of character.
I am glad you enjoyed the UK. I moved to Wales from London 4 years ago and its made me appreciate the tourist thing a lot more. If you come back there is loads to do in Wales that's free!

I've now had the chance to see Rebels series 1 on DVD and also the trailers for series 2. Here's my rendition of a couple of characters.

Kanan Jarrus in Stormtrooper disguise, Sabine Wren series 2 (WIP), Chopper Imperial paintwork

I did this one to get rid of the abundant Kanans in my scrap box. Standard head replacement with a movie pauldron.

Sabine is my favourite character. She is a work in progress. I found the key online and so working on the orange detail. I didn't realise the figure was so different from the onscreen character. I plan to correct some of the bits in this figure with the wrist computer and armour in the back of the hands. I have an idea for the boot bandoliers but may incorporate that into another one!!!

My posts wouldn't be a post without an astromech. I picked this one up off Tungori. I tried to maintain the thin paint layer on the head which I managed to do with some degree of success in the spraying process. You can see the original orange through it in several scenes. I used one of my kids broken toys to create the middle leg. As he had it in most scenes of this story I gave it to him rather than complete my favourite one, the courier disguise. Paint job was completed with several silver paints.

Hope you enjoy.
Regards

These look great! The Sabine figure is really shaping up and the paint job on Chopper is fantastic.
