Well we did our first one last night and had a blast. It is now on the front page and we will archive them all here:

We are trying to share news and information about customizing and talk about things along those lines. I wanted to make this thread for you to share your comments about what you think, what you would like to see us talk about, or any possible guests for these podcasts.
We are still in the formative stages and getting all the "kinks" ironed out, but we will get more polished as we go. My aim is to simply feature and talk about all the great customizers we have here at the Yards and hopefully convince a few of you every now and then to perhaps make a special appearance to share your thoughts on your customs and how you did certain things.
Thanks in advance for your support and let us know what you think. Lucasclones has worked his tail off to ensure this happened! Way to go Chad! I also want to thank Hangarbay94 for creating such great sig banners for us that I chopped up to make us a great Podcasting Banner. If you click it (above) it should also take you to the Podcasting Home Page.

the RSS button gave me a screen full of code...
That RSS stuff is frying my brain. I will work on it. It is bascially a feed that should automatically let you know when we do another one.
I am glad you guys like it. Be sure to let us know what you would like to hear discussed as well!

Oh we plan to do more. I bet you just might be the topic of conversation one podcast! I aim to feature all the good one here.
I would love to interview you about your great creations and those great recards you do.
-
Very nice addition! Great podcast guys. I would like to see some of the customizers I first met by joining here Hangerbay94, Clonehead, Fialiaferenbrug and Wraithnine.
-
I thought it was great!!!
I would love guests of fellow customizers and hear tips and tricks!!!
Great job guy's can't wait for the next one!!!

Thanks Rich! the feedback is very much appreciated!

As I've already said to Tamer - I really enjoyed this! The hour flew by, I was surprised afterwards to see that it was as long as it really was! And it was cool to have a shout-out for Tales From The Clone Wars.
Looking forward to the next edition.
-
I listened and I really like it. You guys did a great job. I'm sure it will keep getting better and better.
-
hey, thats pretty cool, I very much like the idea and enjoyed the first episodes. It was a good start introducing the idea behind customs!
to be honest first I thought "why listen to it", English is not my mothers tongue so I feared that I would not be able to follow your words, but hey, you talked loud and clear, not to fast and it was easy to hang on.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have gotta remember the names of your characters though!
I listened and I really like it. You guys did a great job. I'm sure it will keep getting better and better.
Thanks guy, that is high praise coming from you. I bet the word Psyclone might happened to get mentioned a few times on future podcasts too. I can't wait to talk about your scratch builds.

Wow Stefan, you were able to understand us? Cool deal, I can't even understand myself sometimes. Perhaps Chad and I will have to learn some German and give you guys some reciprocity. Chad, you get to learn it first and then I will. 8)
We really appreciate the comments folks. I would also like to give a shout out to both of our families for letting us drive them nuts for the week leading up to the first podcast while Chad and I worked out the many issues this takes. Our wives must be Saints! Chad's has already agreed to let him have every other week so we can keep this up in a bi-weekly format. As soon as I can get a high speed connection we may switch to weekly.
That being said, let us know what you would like to talk about next time. I know Rich already put in a plug for us to talk about TCW TV show a bit so I aim to do that, but if there is something specific you would like for us to highlight we are but a pm or an email away. I am already ready to do a new one thanks to comments like these!
-
I want to second Tamer in saying, again, thank you for the feedback! You all have been so positive and encouraging and that is in keeping with the spirit of this forum!
I hope to eventually have this as a weekly thing as well. I am also thankful to mine and Tamer's wife. My wife saw this coming and has been very patient and I know Tamer's has been too. I have so many ideas for this show it is tough to get them all down in my note. I heartily encourage any of you to contact me or Tamer with any of your ideas. I want you all to think of this as something you can participate in and is interactive for you not just that you sit back and listen to.
Stefan I am glad you could understand us easily! I am going to the bookstore for my English-German dictionary now!
As is Tamer I am excited for the next show and hope to make it better each time!
Thanks again,
Chad

My connection hates the podcast. :p Also, is there a way to download it so I can put it on my mp3 player to listen to while out walking?

Here you go, try this.

finally got some time today to listen to this while I was working on parts orders. Just brilliant! You guys covered alot and still barely scratched the surface, it seems.
Can't wait to hear the next broadcast and to star in one. I would love to be able to talk to both of you at once for one. May have to set up a three way call with the voice recording capabilities of my phone or something. I know that skype has a week trial of conference video calling for free. that could be one option.
Good job, Shawn and Chad!
-
Now we haven't tried it yet, but Chad and I found out that Skype will allow you to have a multi-person phone call. What do you guys think about a customizing roundtable for a podcast one occasion with topics you guys create to talk about?
Ofcourse our ultimate goal, if I can speak for Chad, is to get everyone of you great customizers on there to just highlight your great work and to get your take on things in the customizing verse period and perhaps share a tip or trick here and there. We are also very open to talk about topics of your choice too.
-
That got 'er for me, Shawn! Now I'll be able to listen to it on my player while out on my 3-mile forced march! ;D (my wife, the health-nut slave driver...)
-
Oh we plan to do more. I bet you just might be the topic of conversation one podcast! I aim to feature all the good one here.
I would love to interview you about your great creations and those great recards you do.
That would be great.
I wish my english would be better. I guess my vocabulary is only enough for a 10-minute interview.
-
...I know some *native* English-speakers like that... :P
;D
-
...I know some *native* English-speakers like that... :P
;D
LOL! Yepper, I am one of them.
Christoph I would definitely like to try and get a phone call in and I am sure we could edit out anything you didn't like.
-
Update: After a week of cussing and frustration I finally got the podcast posted to Itunes!! You can go to Itunes to subscribe now. Go to podcasts and search for Custom action figure news and then hit the subscribe for free button and then it will automatically download the most recent post. I think I have all the bugs ironed out now and as long as our archive site behaves I should be able to posts the shows a day or so after we air.
We are doing a new show this week!! We will have our first guest customizer. Wonder who it will be...
-
Way to go Chad. I figured you would apply yourself to that the same way you did to figuring out podcasting.
By the way folks, if you hit the rss button off the podcasting page (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/podcasts/index.html) you can get auto updates by subscribing there too. I plan on getting all of the podcasts loaded on the Shipyards page, but if you like messages about new material that is just another option. We are trying to make this as easy as possible so you can have as much fun it as we are.
-
...I know some *native* English-speakers like that... :P
;D
LOL! Yepper, I am one of them.
Christoph I would definitely like to try and get a phone call in and I am sure we could edit out anything you didn't like.
I would like to try.
However, I like to give someone else the advantage who speaks better english.
-
Well now we are definitely gonna have every one of our great Yarders on there Christoph so no need to worry about that. And there are also ways to interview you besides just a straight phone call (I could email you some questions and then have Chad or someone of your choice read the answers), but I am sure your English would be fine.
Remember guys the whole message of this is to share the love of customization and the new toys we all love. I am not worried about the English (listen to me for example) as I stink at the language part too. I think you guys are just great artists and have created some over the top items I want to get the word out on and there are thousands of folks just like us out there who I believe will just love this. You wouldn't believe the great feedback I have already recieved.
If you told me four years ago that I would every do a daggone youtube video or start doing a radio broadcast about this stuff I would asked you what pills you were taking. Chad and I are just getting started, but I had the most fun I have had in awhile just talking with another person who loved SW just like me. I think this is gonna get contagious and we can all talk about this stuff. You folks and your Custom Artwork (whether it be figs, vehicles, graphics, fiction, dioramas, etc.) are well deserving, enough to make me get over my hangups to try and promote you.
-
Well you can start your day listening to me and Chad talk toys and see what Clonhead had to tell us about his great customs. Thanks for the interview Clint, it was great!
The link is up on the front page and the Official Podcasting Page (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/podcasts/index.html) and Chad is updating the RSS for the ITunes folks.
-
Very nice group effort guys and I was glad to see Clint be the first customizer interviewed. I really enjoyed this episode hearing Clint's thought processes and some history on the legend. You can also feel the point where everyone gets more comfortable and it is just a cool laid back conversation where you guys have a great time interacting together. I also enjoyed the GI Joe part, I too have been picking them up for the last 2 years. Awesome job all around and this was a great idea Chad!
-
Just finished listening to this; a very interesting listen, with plenty of insights into the processes behind some of the Shipyards' best and brightest. I'd definately agree with LS on the enjoyability that stems from how laid back and casual the conversation is; more often than not podcasts (particularly ones just starting out) feel too bound by whatever agenda or notes they've prepared, but you guys let it flow naturally from one topic to another.
Excellent job all round, folks, and I look forward to the next edition!
-

another great interview gentlemen
the conversation was very interesting and Clint was a great guest
Shawn: email is a good idea (I am helpless without a dictionary :-X) if it is not too much work for you
-
No work at all Christoph. For all of you that will let us interview you, we will email or pm you some questions at least a week or so beforehand and we promise we won't blinside you.
The way I see it, I want you guys to think of these podcasts as yours too and we want to get you all one and talk about topics you want.
Sorry we didn't get to the TCW show Rich, we were planning on it, but that hour got away from us quick! We will definitely do that next time.
Kualan thank you for your comments, we do have a basic outline, but as you saw we don't necassarily stick to it. I hope we can do a custom graphics episode and get you, Jules, VA, and Stefan on there to talk about your graphics and associated projects.
L.E. thank you as well, we did get more comfortable this time and the Joe stuff, and any line for that matter, is fair game for a podcast.
-
Chad sets up the whole podcasting topic very nicely.
-
Great job yet again!!!
Just finished listening , I know I'm late this week but life has been a bitch lately!!
The hour just flew by again!!! It's great how you guy's keep it moving , also it was great to hear Clint talk about customizing!!
Great Idea to pick these very talented people brains!!!
Keep up the great work!!!
Looking forward to the next one!!!
Rich
-
I have talked about this a little more.
Rich, we are gonna do a special cast on TCW thanks to your suggestion. Keep em coming Yarders!
-
Cool Tamer! Guys, I have a suggestion. You could start a thread listing who will be featured and ask for questions for each customizer. Durring the show you could pick the best question or a random drawing or something. Idea is more people may watch to see if there question gets asked while providing iformation for us all. Now I like the show and you guys are asking the right questions so this is just an idea I wanted to toss out.
-
Not a bad idea L.E.
Perhaps I will find some time to start that thread up today.
-
also customizers could submit tip and tricks about customizing and you guys could read a few of them each podcast.
keep up the gret work!!
Can't wait for the next one!!
Thanks
Rich
-
Great idea, Spry! I think that would really ... engage the listening community. It also ties into Rich's idea, in my mind, (another great idea, Rich!) and will likely lead me to my first tip submissions.
Y'know - all we need onboard now is someone who can write us our own theme music pieces for vids/podcasts/graphic novels. Our community has everything else covered - photography, computer modeling, photoshopping of all stripes, videographers, writers, news-hounds, CUSTOMIZERS, mixed-media artists, and on and on. So - where are the musicians? ;)
-
So - where are the musicians? ;)
indeed a good and serious question!
-
LOL. Good one Doc. I know there are some rockers out there among our ISY folks. Wouldn't that be cool!
My wife has a very fancy keyboard, maybe I will see if I can get her to come up with something.
I really like L.E.'s idea of starting up a Podcasting Q and A thread. Where should I put it here in forum where you guys can find it and access it the most?
-
I would suggest putting the Q&A suggestions thread in the Imperial Blog section or maybe in the Imperial HR section. Blogs seems like a better fit, tho.
-
http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=6513.msg97800#msg97800
Here you go. I put it at the top so we could all find it easily.
-
Not a bad idea L.E.
Perhaps I will find some time to start that thread up today.
I like that idea as well!
-
Cool, glad you guys like the idea.
-
Guys, do you want our tips submissions made in that thread as well, or would you prefer those to be emailed to you directly?
-
Guys, do you want our tips submissions made in that thread as well, or would you prefer those to be emailed to you directly?
Either way Doc!
-
Ok, our special fan suggestion cast is now live on the front page and on the podcast page.
Thanks for listening folks and when we go live, and if we have your skype address, and if we can link up perhaps we can add you to the Cast.
-
Great job!!!
Love the Clone wars talk!!!
I would like to know what people think will happen to Rex and Ahsoka ??
Thanks for the shout out!!!
Keep up the great work, can't wait till the next one!!!
Rich
-
Very enjoyable on your thoughts regarding the Clone Wars show, particularly about the recent Citadel episodes / Tarkin / etc
-
I agree with you guy's on 99% of what you had to say about the Clone Wars!!!
Rich
-
Well I had a blast and would love to hear everyone's take on this series, perhaps we can do special ISY member additions to our TCW chats as Chad and I had a blast with them and I am figuring we will do more. Perhaps after this season is over we can continue our TCW fun by talking about the previous episodes till the new season starts.
Rich, as it was your suggestion, you wanna lead the list of members here who are on? I think I have Jay and Wookielover talked into our next one or two, but after that I would think it would be great to hear your take on this series too.
Thats the great thing I like about this place too, there are such great opinions and insights in here.
-
again a very entertaining and interesting episode gentlemen
I'm also not the biggest fan of TCW but most of the episodes are pretty cool + we got some nice new characters (Pre Viszla, Echo etc.)
keep it up
-

Yes it could work like a call in show.
-
Ok, episode 4 is now up.
I had a blast interviewing our very own Wraithnine, that guy just knows his SW stuff.
-
Fifteen minutes in and I just realised it runs for a total of three and a half hours!!
Good thing I don't have university on Mondays :P
-
LOL. I was only in for about the first hour so I get to have some fun listening too!
-
Fifteen minutes in and I just realised it runs for a total of three and a half hours!!
Good thing I don't have university on Mondays :P
No its only a little over an hour for some reason it put it on 3 times! I had issues uploading again last night and it took me about ten attempts!!. I will see if I can fix it today.
-
I will have to give this a listen tonight.
-
haha, I has listenig to it and I said, whoa, am I on mind altering drugs or are they talking about the same thing again? Then the next question I said this thing is starting over as I knew you were keeping these at about 1 hour. Great job to everyone and Jay was such a natural and very humorous while expanding upon his vast knowledge of the hobby. I am so glad Jay was able to select my question from the forums at the end and expand upon the Clone in training he created about a year ago I think. Another fun relaxed show.
-
HA!! I was wondering if you guys had gotten so carried away that you forgot to stop at just one hour! ;D
-
HA!! I was wondering if you guys had gotten so carried away that you forgot to stop at just one hour! ;D
He he, I have to tell you guys that its always fun to see what problem this project throws at me next! (can you sense the sarcasm here??) ^-^ As I said above, it was difficult to get it up last night for some reason or another. So today I went to re-upload the show and, boom, in one try it went up just fine and I was able to obtain the codes I need to host the podcast with no problems. I have reloaded it on the RSS feed and am waiting for Tamer to swap out the embed code for the front page for you guys. Its up on Itunes now for downloading and won't take up too much space now if you are using and Mp3 player. Sorry to get too technical but I just want you guys to know that I am working to fix any problems that occur.
-
i thoroughly enjoyed being involved ,and would love to be involved again sometime(if you'll have me ) ;D
-
This is amazing, i really enjoy listening you guys!
Damien.
-
Chad, I did get that swapped out in the various places. Once again as Chad said without going into too much detail, getting the RSS to work correctly with another hosting site is causing us some issues. I am looking into just hosting everything here as soon as I can find some extra time to work on it.
And Jay, I think I can speak for Chad in that we too had a blast and would love to have you on again.
Up next, Chad correct me if I am wrong, is Darth Daddy so get your questions ready!

Tamer: you are correct, DD is definitely next and i definitely had a blast talking with Jay I think we could have him on many times in the future!
-
these discussions are getting better and better
another entertaining episode
Jay was a very interesting guest
-
Here in about 15 minutes Chad and I will be interviewing Darth Daddy and Elias. If you have some time I have no doubt it will be a fun interview!
Check out the front page for the live video link. You might have to bear with us through a few live recording issues, but I can guarantee it will be interesting.
-
Well, I started out listening - but my backwoods swampwater internet connection choked up on me - that and the laptop literally overheated and shutdown.
-
great show guys Elias was hilarious what a great father-son team!
-
Well the full interview is up on the front page now. It was a blast. Elias had me rocking and rolling the whole time.
Thanks for a great interview Darth Daddy and Elias!
-
That was a great interview guys! Elias was for sure the life of the party! Man I want to hang out with that kid some time. It would be so fun to get him and my son Jaxon together to fight over who knows more about Star Wars! haha just kidding they would be playing the whole time! This episode offers more laughs per minute than any other, no doubt.
-
Great job on the last 2 podcast!!!
I didn't coment on the last one cause my computer is on the fritz!!!
I have my computer at work, and I guess my wife will let me use hers this weekend!!!
But great job!!!
I love that I learn so much with each cast!!
Keep up the great work!!!
Rich

Jenn and I just listened to the latest podcast were very entertained.
Do you guys have a time scheduled for the next one, so we can listen in live?
-
Jenn and I just listened to the latest podcast were very entertained.
Do you guys have a time scheduled for the next one, so we can listen in live?
Tamer and I do have a tenative schedule I will ask if he wants to post it... Thank you for the kind feedback that is what keeps us going and what helps us get even better.
-
I will get it up here soon folks. I am still coralling a few of the members, but for the most part I think we are good to go. Stay tuned, and it is nice to hear folks are entertained by this. I am having a blast doing it and I think the interviewees can say it was great fun too.
-
Here is what I have penciled in so for for Custom Action Figure News Interviews. Now this is just tentative and could change. Chad and I are enjoying this immensely, but as I only have access to a high speed connection a few times a week we may have to change your date and or time so please bear with us. Also the interviewee may not be able to do it when scheduled so that may change some things too. If you would like to be on, please post in this thread and we will try to get our summer dates down as our schedules will change then which is why you do not see any dates. We plan on interviewing everyone here! If I have forgotten anyone please forgive me. I am so busy right now it seems I have to schedule in time to use the bathroom. This is so much fun though.
Tentative Podcast Interview / Topic List
Date Interviewee / Podcasting Topic
April 21st The Clone Wars Round up with Jenn and Jay?
May 5th Hangarbay94 (Thinking graphic customizers here) at 5pm
May 19th Luke Sprywalker
June 2nd Ron Hembling (may have to adjust date and time for Australia time)
June through August Dates we can change after that as I am off till about the middle part of August. I am hoping by this time I will have high speed, but I either will or I won’t, but I can drive to access a connection weekly during the summer if we think we want to go to that schedule. I also have confirmed interview approval from;
Wookielover1138
Fiala Fernbrugg
JediWolf69
Clonesniper78
Rodger of the New Sandcrawler Workshop

-
Great episode guys! It is cool hearing everyone opinion and ideas. It was awesome being able to interact with everyone. That was my first time hearing it live!
-
Thanks guys, I am telling you, all of you need to get in on this. It is so much fun. I had a blast, today was so hectic for me, but doing this helped calm things down for me a bit. Thanks Chad, Jay, and Jenn for such great viewpoints. We even got to interact with L.E. and Brian via Skype Text while we were live.
-
Hi Shawn & Chad,
I just want to Thank you both again for having me on, I too had sooooo much fun!!! Was a little nervous at first, but then settled into things. Sorry about asking you to repeat the question, as I am a "newb" to Skype and was afraid if I answered any of my messages they would disconnect the call, and it was distracting ;D Can't wait to hear the podcast again!
Jenn
-
Thats ok Jenn. I find things like that make the cast even more fun and heaven knows I am usually the one doing those types of things to Chad. I daresay he is used to that from me, but it made your whole interview a little more endearing as far as I am concerned. Skype can get interesting at times.
For those who want to download this episode:
http://www.archive.org/details/episode6.2
I have it up on the Podcasts CAFN Page (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/podcasts/index.html) for those who want to listen there and it will be on the front page here in a second.
-
Hi guys! Jenn its all good you made us laugh! I think this show was so much fun and it shows we can manage a bigger group without confusing each other. Cannot wait to do this again. Anyone that wants to message me during the cast is welcome. Look for Chad Hitchcock on Skype and add me and then message me with your thoughts and I will try to add them in to the conversation. Le's participation shows why its good to listen live if you can. You never know when I will hold up a drawing to the camera!! :)
I will have the show on Itunes today. I uploaded it yesterday but could not obtain the coded to add to the RSS again!
-
Lol, thanks Shawn. It was definately fun, and I don't know why I was so nervous I talk to you guys all the time! The Skype thing takes a little getting used to. I think I have it under control though now ;D
@Chad: Well, then I did my job, lol! Thanks again for having me on, I had a blast ;D
-
hey jen, did you return that call yet?
LOL
-
what are you talking about spooky? what call?
-
what are you talking about spooky? what call?
the one you got during the podcast, we could hear your answering machine in the background...
-
Lol, that wasn't mine! I don't even own an answering machine, must've been one of the boys ;D
-
ah, okay, it was a girls voice and it sounded like you, guess it was someones wife....nice job on the pod cast tho!
-
Another superb show, loved hearing all your thoughts on TCW - I lol'd a lot at the exchange of Ackbar impressions at the end ;D Great stuff as always.
-
Are the next podcasts still going to be:
Friday, Hangarbay94 at 5pm
then
May 19th, Luke Sprywalker
I'm looking forward to hearing both.
-
I am glad you asked Nate,
Our next cast is indeed this Thursday with Hangarbay94, but the time is now
6:30 PM Eastern time for those who want to listen live. I will be sure to have that up the following day here on Site too.
And yes, L.E. is up after that.
Chad and I are also formulating our summer schedule so get ready for a big ole invite from Chad and I in the coming weeks. We just need to find some time to confirm our summer dates so we don't have to change things on folks once we set a date.
-
Cool, Thanks.
I will be sure not to miss it.
-

Chad and I were also able to put together some summer dates last night so stay tuned for your invite!
-
Great show guys, sadly I missed all but the last 20 minutes. I listened in it's entirety and really enjoyed getting into the mind of the Hangarbay. What a great guy, so tallented and so funny. I wish I could have been live with you guys, this is one of the most highly anticipated shows for me. Job well done to all.
-
Glad you enjoyed it L.E.
Don't forget folks our very own Luke Sprywalker will be the interviewee on the next Podcast!
-
I forgot to give you guys the
Facebook Link (https://www.facebook.com/CAFNpodcast)
If you feel you can please hit the like button. Hangarbay94 is going to give us some exclusive diorama decals that we can use if we get this to over 100!
Thank you for offering that Jules!

Is Sprywalker still on tonight?
-opps, not until next week.
-
Well folks our summer schedule is just about booked so just as soon as it is finalized we will post it here.
Don't forget that our very own Luke Sprywalker will be interviewed this Thursday at 6:30pm Eastern and then we have Ron Hembling on June 2nd.
-
We are still planning on hitting the air waves again at 6:30 PM Eastern Live tomorrow.
-
Another totally enjoyable episode guys. Shawn, I was thinking the same thing when you realized time was almost up, it went by too quick. Thanks so much for the announcement about the cards.
-
You are quite welcome Nate. It was a fun interview, for the life of me I don't know where the hour goes. This is really a lot of fun. I am always left waiting till the next cast.
I would also like to thank L.E. for interviewing with us and I thought his interview was superb. I bought some Krylon and windex on the way home tonight.
-
I guess I am the MsGiver of customizing. 0/ ;D

Why thank you sir. It is so much daggone fun.
-
I had a blast with it. Just wish I would have known I needed to turn down the volume or back away from my computer. I sound like I am yelling into a megaphone.

And I thought you were just upset with Tamer, LE, LOL! Guys, I just listened to this and enjoyed it greatly. LE is just a bit more down to earth than I expected but his imagination and drive are quite evident. You are an inspiration, Spry.
-
WOW, Clint! Thanks so much my friend...you have inspired me on many times as well. I'm sure you remember me blowing up your messages when I joined here...
-
Just caught up with both the hangarbay94 and Luke Sprywalker editions. Very entertaining, both of them. Great job guys!
-

-
http://www.archive.org/download/Episode9_3/episode9.mp3
Thats the download for the new episode! Getting ready to put the podcast on the front page.
We just had a blast with Ron Hembling last night. Chad tells me that our hour is up way to quick! His watch just has to be fast doesn't it?
Thanks Ron.
-
i missed the live as i was unwell ???
-
i missed the live as i was unwell ???
I figured something was up, you are usually spot on with some good questions I don't think of during an interview. You are quite handy!
-
I have to say that I may be a Johnny Come-lately here, but i just discovered the Action Figure Podcast.
It's good to hear from all of the great artists out here in the shipyards, and that interview with Luke Sprywalker was awesome. I was instantly addicted and now I'm obsessively trying to catch up on all of the past podcasts. Keep up the great work fellas and I can't wait to hear what you've got planned already for this summer.
-
Thank you Triple S. It is great fun.
If you scroll up just a bit Chad posted our summer schedule! It is gonna rock.
-
great shoow and I can't wait to hear from everyone! It is great fun guys!
-
We have our summer schedule pretty solid now, but if anyone here wants in on our Fall Broadcast Schedule could you please pm or email me as I would love to have you on there. I will probably be contacting more folks too once I find some free time (yeah right).
The only thing you need to do the audio only interview is skype which is free and some type of microphone. I bought a cheap wirelss headset microphone for ten bucks at walmart. A webcam mic will work too. It really is so much fun.
-
Sounds like you two get all the fun.
-
We just loaded up Episode 10 on the front page!
Working out some audio bugs. We squashed em today. sounds good.
Yepper Samurai this is sure fun. Can we schedule you for a fall interview. I talked about your tip today on episode 10.
-
Hey, Tamer
I think I was reading your response at the same moment you mentioned my quirky tip on the podcast. I admit that I had to do a lap around the house like Rocky Balboa.
But yeah, I'd love to do an interview for the fall. I've already subscribed to the podcast and still catching up on old episodes.
-
Cool deal plan on it.
We think we have figured out our audio bugs which mainly centered around USTREAM, the live feature. We are gonna try to use it one more times, audio only, but if we have issues it is getting ditched.
I would also love to do a fall cast with some of the custom graphic creators too; HB94, Stefan, Cal, and Nate just off the top of my head in a kind of round table discussion too. Ofcourse I need to talk with em first!
-
Don't forget folks this Thursday is the interview for Mercury Art Studios. Chad and I are looking forward to it. We are planning to try to go live with audio USTREAM only and see how that works. If we start getting issues the live feed may be dusted so we can ensure the customizer interview audio quality gets top billing. We hope we don't have to do that, but after our last interview with Ron and some sound issues we knew the customizers being interviewed deserved better audio so that is our first priority. It should be fun and if we do have to ditch the USTREAM feed just check back the following day as it will be on the front page and up on ITunes and the RSS feed.
-
Folks the front page has a very special podcast dedicated to Mike Martinez and family. It wasn't the easiest thing for me to do. Thank the maker Chad was there. We were just trying to remember Mike and get out the word about what folks can do for his family. Please forgive me if I mucked anything up. I am not very things like this.

The new podcast with Nate and Jenn of the Kessel Run Review is on the front page. It is an awesome cast if I do say so myself.
I would like to thank Nate and Jenn also for their time and if you hear Nate talk about a carded astromech check out another front page news story today for that link.

I can't thank you guys enough for having me on, this was a great time.
-
Zed we had a lot of fun, but as you saw, the time goes by so quick. We will have to have you back sometime to talk about other lines besides Hasbro.
-
Great show guys! I enjoyed and agreed with pretty much everything you guys said! Though I will be getting Logray! haha It is fun isn't it Zed?
-
Zed we had a lot of fun, but as you saw, the time goes by so quick. We will have to have you back sometime to talk about other lines besides Hasbro.
I had fun too and definitely need to have Zed on again! LE glad you liked it and hey Logray looks pretty cool to me!
-
Well folks if you listened last time you saw we didn't even touch anything non Hasbro from SDCC so we took this opportunity to finish off the SDCC talk with a focus on Sideshow and Gentle Giant and general SW talk. We would like to thank Zed for once again dropping in to talk with us.
Here is the download link for those who wish to do so, but ofcourse this is now live on the front page.

Tonight we are getting ready to interview on Sith Fire 30. Needless to say Chad and I are quite excited to do this interview. If you have any burning questions for Dayton get em on in here and we will try to get to them during the show!
-
Dayton, I am a HUGE fan of your work, well I am 6' 1" and 200 lbs, but seriously I have watched you sculpt so many things and my jaw drops further with each project. I have bought Aves fix it sculpt because of you and been sculpting a very small amount over the last few years. My question is how do you get your sculpts so smooth looking? I know to use a bit of water on my finger or tool I am working with but can you shed some light on how to keep that perfect balance between too wet or too dry while sculpting? Or any other techniques that pertain to this aspect of working with Aves specifically?
-
Guys I have given up on Ourmedia. The site just does not work. On the suggestion Of Whit Anderson I have switched to posterous. Here is the link. Please be patient while I figure out how to switch my RSS feed over. I know in the long run this arrangement will be better seeing as how I will be able to post faster!!
http://lucasclones.posterous.com/
-
Well ourmedia issues nonwithstanding, the podcast is now live on the podcast page and here is the download link from archive.org:
http://www.archive.org/download/Episode16_654/Episode16.mp3
Look for this on the front page tomorrow, but you can now listen to this live on the podcast page:
http://www.imperialshipyards.net/podcasts/index.html
We would really like to thank Dayton for his time and for letting us into the customizing legend we all know as Sith Fire 30. I tried to ask the questions I knew you would like and would classify this as one of the most enjoyable and informative talks I have had in a great while.
-
Anyone up for a podcast gearing up for a new season of The Clone Wars?
http://www.archive.org/download/Episode17_420/CafnEp17.mp3
Thats the download code, but the audio player is now on the front page for your enjoyment.
Chad and I would also like to thank Jay for the gracious use of his time. One has to remember it was late evening for us, but well after midnight for jay by the time we got this done. Thanks Jay. You were insightful as usual.
-
Well we have already talked about having Incom on for Custom Action Figure News for the next customizer interivew on Otober 13th (check out the teaser podcast on the ISY CAFN Page) and we are quite excited so please if you have any questions either get them on in here or the
CAFN Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Imperial-Shipyards/234428276594079#!/CAFNpodcast) (don't forget for every 100 likes I donate to the widow of Mike Martinez)
and we will be sure to get them asked during the interview. I only talked with Remco for a few minutes on the teaser cast and wow did he exude customizing goodness. Be sure to check out his great FB Page (http://) too.
Anyhow, we have (for now) spaced our podcasting to about three week intervals to accomodate my lack of a near high speed internet source. I have to publicly thank Chad for allowing me to dictate our calendar as we continue CAFN. I have been promised high speed service anytime now so we have tried to not schedule too many interviews in advance on the chance I do get home high speed soon and we can get back to our normal podcast schedule of every other week. Frankly folks, for me, doing this right now means I pay an additional internet service fee as well as gas fees to get there so I have to keep my wifey happy with my SW Endeavors. I love podcasting and will never stop it now (poor Chad is probably cringing), but I am going to have to be smarter about how I do it so it is not a huge expense for me. Trust me though, I will not give up till high speed hits my house!
Didn't mean to start a high speed tirade, but inform you fine folks about the next two customizer interviews after Incom! We will have:
Rat Fink Customs (http://www.facebook.com/Ratfinkcustoms) - November 3rd
Psyclone Customs (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Imperial-Shipyards/234428276594079#!/psyclonecustoms) - December 1st
and ofcourse we are quite excited to have them as guests too. If you have questions for them you can be sure to put them into this thread or on the CAFN Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Imperial-Shipyards/234428276594079#!/CAFNpodcast) so we can be sure to ask them on air.
-
Shawn, no cringing here!. Its simply going to be a great year for the show, a great year for customs and the only thing to make it better than it already is will be when you DO get high speed. 'Nuff said. :)
-
I'm really looking forward to Incom's appearance. He does great work! You guys are doing a awesome job with the podcast and I appreciate the invitation and to be a part of it in December.
-
I will tell you its the podcasting that gives me something to look forward to on some of my hectic weeks. Just being in the presence of folks who like SW and customizing as much as I sure does make for a nice perk to this hobby for me.
-
Just realised I have a lot of podcasting to catch up on! Looking forward to hearing the last few issues.
-
Daggone, like we already didn't have enough to talk about on your podcast next week, which reminds me Chad and I need to email you the specific questions to your work.
Hey Shawn, just drop those questions in the mail whenever you're ready :D
-

LOL. Great minds think alike. I just emailed them too you!
-
Does anyone have any questions for INCOM tonight? We start our interivew at 6pm.
I sure wish we could do it live, but if you get a question in here by said time we will try to get to it during our interview.
-
new episode is up! http://customactionfigurenews.posterous.com/episode-19-ratfink-customs
-
Excellent podcast with Incom!
-
Great show guys! I love Richards work!
-
Thanks folks, Psyclone is next. I can't wait to talk about some of his work too.
-
yeah,I loved that last podcast, thier all great, and you guys have really got a great style of your own going on there.really fun to hear you guys while I'm working on my customs.always looking forward to the next.keep up the great work, you've really fine tuned it. ;D
-
Get ready for another podcast this coming week with Psyclone Customs. If you have any questions get em on in here. His fabs are just sweet!
-
No questions for Psyclone? We podcast tomorrow evening, get em in here if you have any.
I think I could talk all evening on his ship fabs (like his Walker). I promise I will try to give Chad some time. I have been waiting on this one since last year!
-
Here are just a few things I plan on getting into detail about!

-
love that TIE Phantom and Sentinel Class Landing Craft.
-
Yes I am a big fan of his work! Love the ships you chose and posted for us! Don't really have a specific question but would like to hear some info about his vehicle mods and scratch builds. Like materials used, techniques and lessons learned.
-
Yepper, thats what I envisioned too Spry.
It will be interesting to see how he turns his ideas into reality.
-
Looking forward to the broadcast!
-
Looking forward to the broadcast!
Well this interview sure did have some twists and turns (a truck took out the verizon internet / power station) during the interview, but between Chad and I we were able to salvage the interview even though there is a gap toward the end without me where I pop out and then back in. I have to thank Scott for dealing with our technical difficulties. Still, it was an awesome interview.
-
Can't wait to hear it!
-
In preparation for our second cast with Psyclone we are proud to present a custom image gallery. I plan on making one custom gallery for all of the folks that have talked with us in the past and those that talk with us in the future. Its our little way of saying thank you.
http://www.imperialshipyards.net/Galleries/custom-action-figure-news-features-psyclones-customs
If you have questions for Scott. We podcast again next Thursday so get em on in here.
-
No questions for Psyclone yet? We podcast this coming Thursday if you have any.
Today, I was able to put up the CAFN Podcast custom image gallery for Hemble:
http://www.imperialshipyards.net/Galleries/custom-action-figure-news-features-hemble%e2%80%99s-customs
-
Check out the gallery off of the main page. Elias, Darth Daddy, and Lucasclones were all created and wow is it great viewing.
-
We are gearing up for a podcast with Paul Speedlee Customs next week. I know he is not a SW Customizer, but wow some of his work is just over the top and I am guessing that the fine folks here might be able to generate a few questions:
http://speedleescustoms.blogspot.com/
-
Yes, he is an amazing artist. I would like to know how he gets such amazing metallic finishes on the transformers he creates.
-
Paul's an awesome customizer, he's the one who inspired me to tackle that Marvel Legends scale Wolverine. Very professional guy, very friendly and always willing to help out.
He has a quite a varied range of painting techniques. From the colourful metallics on his Iron Man customs to the ultra weathered look on his WFC Transformers.
I'd like to know when he decided to customize for a living. It's something I never really knew was possible, until I joined ProCustomizers.com. Does he have any tips for people also looking to turn this hobby into a source of income? Any pitfalls to look out for?
-
Our interview with Paul is now on the front page and in the cafn page . It was a good time. I know one thing, I never knew an hour could go so fast.
-
Really enjoyed this one, guys, was great to listen to, while customizing some.... stuff.
-
paul speedlee sounds like such a cool guy,and it's awesome that this hobby is an international love for all to enjoy.i'm a big fan of TF, TMNT,and Marvel/DC so i really enjoy seeing all of his work.another great podcast guys.always enjoy hearing you guys talk about custom figures.
-
Thanks folks. We are hoping to be able to talk with Paul again at some stage to get into some detail on some of his painting techniques.
-
We are podcasting tonight with Michael Fright FX

Lets just say he knows how to build to the correct AF Scale for vehicles. Get your question in here as we will try to ask them tonight.
-
No one else does customs this size! What wa the first XL project he tackled. What were his thoughts as he starts such huge projects?
-
This guy does some seriously sick work. Look at that Blockade Runner! Working on mere action figures and small vehicles I'm having trouble finding the space to house it all. But what about Michael? Does he store them in a large storage facility, sell them, break them down in smaller segments? Hope he can shed some light on that.
-
Is that a freaking Darth Maul BIG RIG?
-
Is that a freaking Darth Maul BIG RIG?
That was Michael's design too called the Darth Hauler!
-
Ha! I love it!
-
We had a great interview yesterday and I look forward to sharing it with you soon. This guy just eats, drinks, sleeps Star Wars.
-
Getting ready to post the podcast with Michael Fright on the front page.
-
We are getting ready to podcast with Triple T on Monday!
If you have any questions please get them on in here and we will try to ask them.
He also has a great gallery you can see by hitting the image below:

Thanks again for having me ! 8)

Thanks again for having me ! 8)
We had an absolute blast. Ofcourse I love zombies period, but your painting style is off the charts Dan.
Chad is tweaking the final audio so we hope to have the full interview on the fp soon. Matter of fact, I am listening to our test audio call on the fp now!
-
The full interview with Dan of Triple T Customs is at the top of the front page. It was a fun time!
-
Thanks again ! 8)
I updated my custom's thread with pics of stuff we discussed that were not all in the gallery.
-
Thanks again ! 8)
I updated my custom's thread with pics of stuff we discussed that were not all in the gallery.
I plan on working getting your gallery updated today or tomorrow! I really enjoyed the cast.
Speaking of podcasts we are gearing up for podcasting with Darth Optimus followe by Wookie Balls I hope! I have to admit that we have DO scheduled for Thursday, but I am so unprepared we might try to push that till next week.
After that we have plans to interview Chad himself and I will have some special guest interviewers for that episode. It should be great fun. Chad and I are also discussing plans to start back to doing a bi-weekly schedule. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we are definitely still rearing to go and keep this rolling.
-
That sounds great to me! I need some new podcast to listen to while I am customizing!
-
(http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/CTtamer/Tamer%20continued/cafndobannersmall.gif) (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/Galleries/cafn-features-darth-optimus-customs)
Click that banner to see over a hundred custom images of the next interviewee with Lucasclones and the Tamer!
-
Any questions for Darth Optimus?
-
D'oh!!!
Did I miss the show???
-
I'd like to ask DO When and where he came up with the idea for his Dinobot Mando cross overs? They inspired me to try my own customs (Centurions)!!
Thanks
Ray
-
The show was last night guys, but here is the link so you can listen:
http://archive.org/details/Episode24-DarthOptimus
It was great fun and just hit save target as for the mp3 and you can download it too if you want.
And Wookie Balls, we were all over his Mythrosaur Mandalorian Squad.
-
Ok, the podcast is now live on the front page. Listen away. I am gonna listen tonight since there is no new TCW Episode.
-
I am so excited right now I am busting at the seams. It is Hangarbay94's info to share though. Lets just say he has arranged an awesome interview guest for the CAFN Podcast!
UPDATE: I couldn't help it. I blabbed on the front page.
-
Awesome! way to go Jules!
-
Adywan is my hero so having him appear on our podcast is almost akin to having George Lucas himself.
I can't wait to hear what he has to say about his amazing work. Hopefully he can give us some detailed information about how to upload and burn the film so that the folks who haven't seen it will be able to do so.
I'm going to be thinking of some cool questions to ask.
PS, speaking of George, I'm also in the process of seeing he wants to appear on our Podcast. However, I've pointed out that not everyone makes it past our vigorous eligibility process and that he may not even make it to the show, but he should apply. ;D
-

Jules, that gave me my chuckle for the day.

We are getting ready to podcast with Ray (Wookie Balls) this coming Thursday evening. If anyone has any questions, this is the place and the time to do it.
-
Wow did I have fun putting this together today:

-
It was a great show guys! I loved hearing Ray talk about his interest, customs and techniques. I am honored that my barge build came up in conversation. Keep up the great job guys!
-
Hey guys
I had a blast talking with Shawn and Chad last night - man it was quite late here in the UK when we finished up :)
And LE of course your barge came up, it is an awesome build!
Thanks again for inviting me on to talk about my customs...
All the best,
Ray
-
Yeah, I hated I had to bug out early, but I was sure having fun.
Thanks for being willing to stay up late Ray.
-
I had a blast talking with Shawn and Chad last night - man it was quite late here in the UK when we finished up :)
Ha, I know what you mean Ray ;D
-
Just finished listening to Ray's interview. Again, a great episode and being a European myself I can fully relate to Ray's observations on availability of action figures in general and specific figures which you only need for a certain part. "Peg warmers" is a rare concept over here, since there aren't even that many figures to warm the pegs :D
I'll catch up with Darth Optimus' interview as well, guys :D
-
Remco, I was just listening to our October interview just a few days ago. That was great fun too.
I really appreciate our customizers dedication to interviewing when we are able too, often in the wee hours of the night. You folks are a true credit to our hobby and your art.

Folks did you listen to the podcast Chad and I had this past Sunday where we talked about exciting new things coming to CAFN?
And I am getting high speed this coming Monday so it will make interviews a heck of a lot easier for me which means better times, especially for our foreign friends.
We are gearing up for some roundtables: the first of which will be casting.
Then, we hope to talk dioramas and then painting and then perhaps lighting. Of course interspersed through all of that will be customizer interviews. Chad is doing a bang up job organizing all of the dates is is just a communicative genius right now. If you want interviewed, pm Chad and see if we have any dates available!
-
The front page has a teaser cast we did for the upcoming full interview with Chad tomorrow. It is gonna be great fun, but it was so awesome to talk with L.E., check out my high speed service, and let Chad experiment with his cell phone all in one sitting. I am not gonna tell you it is totally issue free as we found out when Chad gets incoming calls, but listening to Chad shed light on his fascination with Clones and some intial customizing tips is priceless as far as I am concerned.
-
Getting ready to talk with Chad this evening about all of his great work and Darth Daddy is going to help me interview him. I thought perhaps this might help us all get into the spirit of it and perhaps generate some questions that I will be glad to ask this evening if you pop them on in here.

The graphic is the hot button so to speak. This is gonna be a blast and I get to do it in my own abode!

The archives seem to stop at 9/17/11 - are there no more recent podcasts?

Exactly what I needed, thanks!

Exactly what I needed, thanks!
You are quite welcome and I am looking forward to talking with you here in a few weeks for the Casting Roundtable.
On another CAFN Note, somehow we ended up loosing about twenty or so minutes of our great interveiw with Darth Optimus. Chad and I found it and reloaded everything and now you can hear the full interview. It is live on the front page to start our May the 4th Festivities today. So sorry once again Michael.
Oh, the great fun Chad and I are planning. Ofcourse, it doesn't hurt to be around such inspiring folks like everyone on here!
-
Hey, we have the podcast with Lucasclones up on the front page for your enjoyment. It was just great fun and I would like to thank both Luke Sprywalker and Darth Daddy for helping me ask Chad great questions about his work.
-
Here is the download link for the latest podcast, I am going to try and go back and add the download link on the cafnpage archive for every podcast. Give me a bit though, thats gonna take me awhile.

Just finished listening to Chad's interview and let me tell you, it was great fun to check that out. Chad kindly uploaded it through Skype and I immediately started listening. It was great to find out Chad grew very fast as a customizer (which can also be seen looking at his work) and how CAFN started out. And I definitely need to check Youtube more often, perhaps look into uploading some serious vids myself.
Brian did an excellent job as the interviewer, that shouldn't go unnoticed either :D
-
I agree Remco, Darth Daddy did a great job as my co-host for this round.
On a related note, I am going to include the download links on the ISY CAFN Archive Page and have updated most of our back podcasts now so all you need do is right click the link, save target as, and you can download the mp3 and save it wherever you wish. I think it will save folks some searching to have it all in one place. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.
-
just finished listening to the latest podcast ,great show guys !

just finished listening to the latest podcast ,great show guys !
Thanks Jay, we talked a bit about you in there too I hope you heard. Evidently I have you to thank for introducing me to Chad.
-
Looking forward to the Roundtable!!!! Woohoo!
-
Looking forward to the Roundtable!!!! Woohoo!
Me too Dayton. I appreciate all the folks with casting experience who are going to help us shed some light on this so perhaps we can all get a litle more self sufficient with our customs and what not. There are so many walker piecies I would love to cast to complete some of my walkers, but the price of finding them on the bay is awful.
-
I gotta pull my sheet of questions out and finish prepping some answers!
-
I know you will be covering the step by step process start to finish. So I would like to hear what specific products each guest uses for their mold, then for the part they are casting. What is the best way to cast clear parts and avoid air bubbles throughout the piece. Are there resins available that are more flexable for casting robes, helmets and such? I got some awesome clear bits from Doc Outlands and the sprue that held them together was quite flexable.
-
Same here, guys. Looking forward to the RT. Gonna go to bed early tonight, because it's gonna be a long day tomorrow ;) 11.45pm should be early enough....
-
Naturally, you ask as I'm 70 miles from Production Platform 3's vast workshops... Not to worry, I have my minions tasked!
-
Is the show live or taped and posted? (I had a friend ask and had to confess I had no idea!)
-
Doc, the show is recorded, edited then posted. Have fun buddy!
-
 That's the assumption I was working under. Looking forward to this!
-
Thanks L.E., I think we may be able to do live shows again if my plan works out, but for this one the live feature will be off. Maybe by our next podcast though we can have this set up!
-
Oh yes, if the show can go live again that will be awesome!
-
AWESOME show!! Can't wait to hear the first half that I missed out on!
-
D'oh, did I miss the show again???
-
I believe it needs some editing and then it will be up for listening.
That was a great round table and it was cool having so many of us there.
-
Folks so sorry to report that it looks like both Chad and my cpu's lost the podcast even though we were both set to record. Ah, the joys of dealing with multiple forms of technology at the same time. We are still searching, but we are hoping if we did loose it, we can get them back real quick to repodcast. So sorry folks.
-
Things happen Tamer - when first you don't succeed :) ....
-
Things happen Tamer - when first you don't succeed :) ....
Amen to that Dayton. I appreciate you and Clint being willing to recast with us this evening. We will be sporting a new podcast recorder that we have already tested so we are hoping we never have to go through with that again! ()rr
-
*Any* other week and I'd be right there with you, but this week is one of the four major machine outages of the year and I'm stuck handling night-shift safety.
-
Work is work and comes first Doc, we will no doubt do it multiple times.
-
Hey guys, all the best and MTFBWY on take 2! Again, sorry I won't be able to take part in the rerun, but like Doc, it's work related and 2 a.m. in the morning is too much of a stretch in that case ;)
Really looking forward to checking out the podcast once it's available!
-
Its on the front page right now. Chad even decided to let me in on the news that Retaliation was moved to 2013! It was great fun and thanks to Clint and Dayton for podcasting again. We didn't loose it this time!
-
Download links are on the cafn archive page.
-
Awesome! Thank you Chad and Shawn for having us! :)
-
Awesome! Thank you Chad and Shawn for having us! :)
Trust me, the pleasure was ours.
Hot off the press, we are gearing up for our next customizer interview with Stitch Fett!
(http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/CTtamer/Tamer%20continued/sfcustomgallery.gif) (http://www.imperialshipyards.net/Galleries/cafn-features-stitch-fetts-customs)
That banner is a link to his new Custom Image Gallery. We are getting ready to interview him on CAFN this coming Thursday!
-
Folks we are going to try going live again this evening. Cross your fingers!
-
Well it looks like we have worked out our live problems. It took an extra computer and a different room and better internet to pull it off, but it looks like CAFN will be live from here on out circumstances permitting.
-
Awesome!!

That is the download link for the cast with Stitch Fett!
-
Another insightful podcast - just really enjoyin' listenin' to how other customizers approach the hobby & I'm also takin' notes :) ...
-
Another great show guys! Thanks to Stitch Fett for making time to do this and sharing all the knowledge he has aquired over the years. I have read the tutorial and had done some of the same thing for a arm gauntlet, but it is great hearing directly from each person live. I also love hearing everyone painting techniques and it is cool how many of us are doing the same thing, painting everything black then adding the color. So many great points brought up and covered, you can tell what a perfectioonist he is and that is what makes for the best work. Thanks Stitch!
-
^^^ Yeah a flat black basecoat FORCES ya to paint EVERY part of the fig... am considerin' tryin' to Rit dye my figs as an alternative to paintin' a basecoat
-
Get ready for a new roundtable this coming Thursday Evening at 6:15PM Eastern. This time out the topic is diorama building and we are lucky enough to have the following customizers on the docket: Spooky Mufu, Wardog, R1bb1t, and JTrooper. If you have any diorama questions get them on in here and we will try to accomodate them, but I made a doozy of a show outline this time. There might even be a special guest show up while we are talking.
-
I'm just wondering where you guys put all those finished dioramas. I mean, some are pretty big.
-
I want to know what materials they prefer as far as wall textures for Tattoine buildings. Is it glue or plaster or a mixture of the two? Then how do you apply those materials?
How do you avoid warping of the walls as the material dries? Finaly will this technique produce movie accurate textures or something close enough for action figure scale.
-
Lighting...... whats the best lights, where do you order them, any tips for installing them?
-
Had a great time guys, hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did
-
Had a great time guys, hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did
I really appreciate you sharing the products you used to get the perfect snow and ice and lighting effects. I really wanted to hear how you made the icycles too, but that means we will just have to have you back on. Barry's take on larger builds was so great too and that explosion effect he described was priceless as well. Thank you both.
Wardog and JTrooper sorry we couldn't get it worked out. We will have to try another podcast later.
I will be putting the roundtable at the top of the news stories for today and then put up the special interview I was able to do with Frank Diorio after that. We would also like to thank Frank for making a special appearance at our diorama podcast. Trust me, its worth listening to the special interview just to hear him talk about new and improved moisture vaporators. He has a trick he is gonna share with us all soon and it doesn't involve buying all those awful Lukes just to get the vap.
-
Man i'm annoyed i missed it. I was actually talking to my wife on how i was looking forward to chatting with you guys and swapping tips and all the jazz and i freaking bummed how i couldn't actually make it to get on :'(....i even figured out how to work the podcast thing, got it all sorted too. DAMN IT.
I'm not pleased with myself that's for sure. ANYWAY....i has a listen to what was said and i must ay it was an awesome chat.
-
Glad you enjoyed it Wardog. We would have loved to have had your input on the Tatooine things that were talked about, but it will just give us another excuse to do a Diorama Roundtable.

Folks, I want to apologize for perhaps not making the download instructions very clear. I aim to do a new Tube Video once I get home about how to do this but here are some written instructions to download the podcasts on your own personal device (phone, mp3 player, etc.)
1. Go the http://www.imperialshipyards.net/cafnpage.html
2. Right click the download here link for the podcast you are wanting.
3. Select the save target as feature and then find the device on your computer you want to save too (for me I save to a micro SD Card that I then can plug into my phone).
4. Hit the save button and a window should pop up showing you how much of a percentage has downloaded until its 100% complete.
It must not take up too much room because I have all of our previous casts on the Micro SD Card and I would assume you can save these to cds or wherever.
Please also remember that you can find these for yoru IPOD Devices and things like this through ITunes and its free. Our podcasts can be found here:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/custom-action-figure-news/id460818714
Once again, dummy me just thought all of this would be readily available, but keep forgetting that when I first started on this computer and internet journey it took me forever to even learn how to post a picture so I am sorry about that folks.
-
I also wanted to let folks know that we will be podcasting again this week this time with Michael Norman who is the creator of the Blanx Line of Action Figures.
http://www.gonativetoys.com/
is where you can find a link to his site that describes them.
He is also a brilliant customizer who has worked for the likes of Gentle Giant, Diamond Select, Disney, etc.
which can be found at http://www.mnorman818.com/
Now I am on vacation for the next couple of weeks so I am gonna be trying out a neat new toy called a hot spot that my friend is loaning me so I hope it will work on skype and not give us any tech issues. Please note we will not be going live for the next couple of weeks while I am on said vacation. It will be a fun interview anyhow and I am looking forward to it.
-
Well we didn't get to talk with Michael Norman last night ( hopefully that will happen tonight though), but we didn't let that time go to waste. It was sure interesting to hear Chad review the new guns (series 6) for Marauder Gun-Runners and I talked about everything new on the customizing front that I knew of too including some rumors about some new toys. It was fun to just talk in general and stay tuned as we talk to the creator of the Blanx line of Action Figures.
The download button will be able to be found here shortly:

-
Well, this week we are gearing up to podcast again this time it will be another roundtable with the topic: The State of Collecting.
Needless to say it is gonna be one interesting podcast and Chad and I would love to get some perspective on what you are finding in your stores around the US, Europe, Asia, heck everywhere you are. If you are interested in podcasting and talking about the state of affairs with Hasbro right now give Chad (Lucasclones) or Shawn (Tamer) a pm or email.
We are also hoping to have a special guest in the form of Paul Harrison from Jedi Temple Archives who has been in this racket (I mean hobby) for as long as anyone and is just an encyclopedia when it comes to our favorite toy company. Was that too much sarcasm?
-
if i can find another headset and mic i might be up for it guys
-
if i can find another headset and mic i might be up for it guys
Cool deal Jay. Was hoping to get you back on for this. I know you have your well thought out opinions on the matter too.
-
Well Chad and I finally nailed down some time to do a schedule and we have set dates from now till the end of the year! It is an amazing list if it all works out.
-
That's great, Tamer! Looking forward to them!
-
Tomorrow we go live again at around 6pm Eastern Time (well more like 6:15pm), but we are going to be talking about the state of collecting with some awesome guests. If we can work it out (seems good) Paul Harrison from Jeditemplearchives will be joining us and I hope Wraithnine and Darth Daddy. Chad was working on some other angles, but we will definitely have the bases covered.
-
I hope to pop in Thursday for the sad state of collecting.
-
I hope to pop in Thursday for the sad state of collecting.
I am so hoping its not just a major downer for all of us, but can't for the life of me figure out how its not!
-
My questions:
Do you guys think store employees are selling stuff to scalpers before it's hitting the shelves?
Is there a wherehouse somewhere full of action figures just collecting dust?
Does Hasbro not realize how popular some of their figures are?
Do you think Hasbro looks at Ebay to see how popular some of their figures are or how rare they are? If so, why in the hell don't they up the production of those figures!!?? (sorry, I'm fustrated too)
What do you guys think of everyone banding together to get a company like Neca or McFarland Toys to make 6" or 7" scale SW figures? Obviously it would be at the end of Hasbro's contract and we would have to petition George Lucas.
I also just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. If figures don't get progressively better, instead of worse like I'm seeing now, I will not buy figues any more. COLLECTORS WANT FILM ACCURACY AND ARTICULATION!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME HASBRO!!!????
-
My questions:
Do you guys think store employees are selling stuff to scalpers before it's hitting the shelves?
possibly but I doubt it happens very often
Is there a wherehouse somewhere full of action figures just collecting dust?
yes, full of TPM figures
Does Hasbro not realize how popular some of their figures are?
probably but they dont seem to let it effect their case assortments
Do you think Hasbro looks at Ebay to see how popular some of their figures are or how rare they are? If so, why in the hell don't they up the production of those figures!!?? (sorry, I'm fustrated too)
nope

I doubt they would want to pay for that licence, also, I imagine Hasbro has the renewal all locked up
I also just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. If figures don't get progressively better, instead of worse like I'm seeing now, I will not buy figues any more. COLLECTORS WANT FILM ACCURACY AND ARTICULATION!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME HASBRO!!!????
I think the new figures are superbly better then any in the past, some are a little wonky but on the whole, the newest sculpts are superior
I know you meant this fopr the podcast but I couldnt help throwing in my opinions
-
Thanks for your input Spooky. In reference to my comment about articulation and film accuracy I am mostly talking about the new Boba Fett sculpt in the Bespin Battle Pack. They finally give us a better looking Boba, but his articulation is from the 1990's at best. I am happy with the VC line, but some of the figures are just impossible to find in stores. I'm still shocked that they decided to kill the CW line by having less articulation. I'm definitely not going to buy any more CW stuff. I am overall happy with the Joe line. Hasbro is trying to ruin that too with some of the figures having less articulation. But some of the figures have extra articulation so I guess it's a give and take thing right now.
-
LOL Spooky. I think we were supposed to talk about those, but I can sure understand everyone wanting to weigh in. I think everyone has pretty strong opinions about this subject if you collect in any capacity.
-
Sorry folks, the live feature was just causing us too many issues tonight. We will have this up for your listening pleasure as of tonight.
-
Wow, what an interesting talk. Stay tuned, it will be featured tonight or no later than tomorrow. Hats off to Spry for letting me draft him into said discussion.
-
Front page is going to have the podcast play audio in just a minute. The live went screwy on us, but I think I have a fix. We won't know till be go live again!
-
We are getting ready to do an unscheduled interview tonight as it just worked out for us all! Do any of you know a person who goes by the name Tankster Innovations on Facebook?

Feel free to put some questions up here if you want to know more.
-
Well folks, my microphone on the live feed decided to take a nose dive this evening. I do apologize for the lack of the live feature going down flaming again. Still, it was a great interview and we will get it to you shortly.
-
Audio is on the front page and the download link is on the CAFN Page:
http://www.imperialshipyards.net/cafnpage.html
I aim to fix that daggone live stuff once and for all too folks. I am opening my X-Foils to attack position!

We will be interviewing a great customizer known as Sillof this week. He is well known for taking our favorite SW Characters and putting them into alternate universes like this Midieval Boba Fett:
He also has a website where he keeps us updated on his latest and completed works:
http://www.sillof.com/
He is also hinting at some other great news he will be sharing during the interview. I am also happy to report that last Friday evening Chad and I knocked the dust off our live feed issues so we anticipate NO PROBLEMS WITH THE LIVE FEED this time out. Once again we go live around 6:15PM Eastern. If you have any questions pop them on in here.
-
That was a great interview with Tankster! Hey even if the live feed didn't work it was worth it hearing it the naxt day, that is for sure. He is such a great, yet twisted, artist! I love his insane mash ups of robots and creatures.
This next one is going to be another great one. LOL, I know, I say that every time! Jamie is such a tallented artist and he is a great person in general. He has his own "Niche" in our customizing world. I am wondering what inspires him to put out these themed lines of customs? They are very unique and always perfectly matched to the the style he is reimagining them in. I would also like to know what are some of his favorite lines to use for fodder for his larger customs? Most of his stuff is 6 inch scale and up, I believe.
-
Thanks Spry. From the great announcement Sillof just posted we are gonna have to get you back on soon too so we can find our all the nitty gritty on this great Celebration 6 Customizing Panel you are on.
-
About twenty minutes till we go live, cross one of your fingers. They say two is bad luck! ;D
-
Jtrooper here are they looking for more dio's for Tat or maybe later you will be looking at some of my dios
-
We had a great interview last night and I am getting ready to take it to the front page now. Click into the CAFN Archive Podcasting Page for the download link.
-
Anoter awesome shows guy! So glad Jamie was available to do this interview!
-
Well if you follow our Facebook Page you already know, but we will be doing a new roundtable this coming Thursday at 6:15PM Eastern, hopefully live. The topic for this cast is painting and we already have a great guest list assembled in our very own Luke Sprywalker, Sith Fire 30, Tankster Innovations, and hopefully Paul Speedlee if we can work out the Singapore time. This one ought to be chock full of great painting info. and we have a full question list assembled.
As always, if you have any questions you would like us to get to post em on up in here and we will try to get to them.
-
sounds like fun
-
For those who didn't listen live the great painting podcast is up on the top of the front page.
The download link is here:

Remember to download just right click, hit save target as, and go to the place on your computer or peripheral you want it and you can download it. This one is definitely one you want to have. Such great information.

....add to calender...
Looks like a good line up with plenty to look forward to. Definitely looking forward to those roundtables and if course the C6 show.
I've been re-listening to a lot of the older shows and was wondering if its worth having a separate area on the boards for the podcast, much like Star Wars Action News does or the Forcecast does. Each show would have its own thread to allow all of us to discuss the individual shows contents. The first post in each thread would have a breakdown of the questions asked and a timeline to aid easy finding of information. If this already exists, my bad, but could you please point me in the right direction.
For example:
Episode 27 - Maiden Roundtable - Parts Casting Masters
Listen Here (http://customactionfigurenews.posterous.com/episode-27-maiden-roundtable-parts-casting-ma).

We greatly thank them for their time and their patience as well. Truly, they are some great ambassadors for our hobby!

-
Now that is one heck of an idea. I like it. We could just start a CAFN Section in the Customizing Area.
Rogue 82, I will go ahead and set that up and you can populate it at your leisure. I love your idea of having a thread for each podcast where we can do follow ups and if folks have questions or have a timeline of casts and what not and I thank you. I would definitely send you the questions our general outline we used if you are willing to maintain it.
UPDATE: Here is the new section located in the customizing boards Rogue 82.

Do you black wash your figures? :o
What kind off paint do you use?
What do you do to make the paint not rub off of the joints?

We are live on the front page right now. All lights are green.
-
Well we are podcasting this week. We are trying to work out a good time that will work for us and Snow Corp, but at the very least you will get to hear me and Chad get back into podcasting and then we hope to get spudafett on next week.
-
Cool, looks like the Podcast Walker is back on track!
-
We are live on the front page talking with Zedhatch and Clonehead about the top ten figures for 2012.
-
Last night's podcast is now on the front page. This was great fun.
We even took a few moments to review our favorite custom figures of the year too.
-
It was another great show guys! I wanted to comment as Chad said it would be great to see more activity here. I can't wait to hear from Ron next week as the first round had such bad sound quality. Very cool that you guys went into most memorable customs of the year. That would be a cool topic as you said a top 10 list of its own. I really enjoyed the figure discussion and agree with most everything. For me I am with Cad on SS being the #1 figure of the year including all lines.

Thanks for doing that and this week not only will we have Ron back but we are going to have a live chat feature for the very first time so those like you LE will be able to comment and we will see it as we are recording live. Shawn and I are super stoked about this new feature and we hope that we will have some people participating in this.
-
That is awesome Chad! Being able to interact is the big thing I have missed since the first few episodes. Though i am thankful for the higher sound quality and other improvements you guys have made.

I hear you and honestly that we pulled off what we did so early on is amazing to me now after all Shawn and i have learned. Slowly and surely we are getting better and better at this stuff. It just takes time to sit at the computer and play around to figure it all out. Shawn and i were lucky this past weekend as we had some time to sit and work together on some stuff. Anyhow, it will be fun to see who is actually listening and interact with them.
That being said folks, if you are reading this and can try to listen live, definitely send us something on the chat which will be on the front page. We gotta have guinea pigs to test it out on. Plus, and this is the whole reason we are doing this, we may mention your comment, question or opinion at that time. How sweet is that?
-
No doubt Chad, you and Shawn have improved the show by leaps and bounds. This interaction feature will become a new milestone for the show. You will have more people making the effort to listen live so they can comment and ask questions. I can't wait to see it all come together and thanks for the work you guys put in to make this happen.
