Title: Micro Battle Set Turbo Tank / Juggernaut custom
Post by: jkno on August 13, 2019, 04:22:13 AM
Despite the fact that now my collecting focus are Original Trilogy Imperials, and that I mostly collect high end items, I still love the classic Action Fleet and MicroMachines series, these being the only exception to OT Imperial collecting rule. A good friend of mine repainted the Micro Battle Set Turbo Tank / Juggernaut, and I added the interior, because the original interior was Kashyyyk environment diorama and not a proper tank one. Here is the finished product, though I'd better say it is still work in progress, as I'm going to make further changes to the interior. Enjoy :)

This is how the playset originally looked like - and yes, I have a second one that is still boxed.

This is really incredible. I didn't know you had such talent. I find myself in the same position, I for the most part, collect/customize mostly OT.  However with Rogue One on the planet Wobani, at least
it's imperial era.  At any rate, I like what you did with it.

Thank you, my friend Andrei did a great job indeed. The paint is very close to the Master Replicas AT-AT studio scale model color and we also know this tank appeared in Rogue One. I love the Action Fleet line, still have my entire collection, and I even have a few on display next to my higher end items, I know some collectors might not approve with this mixing, but honestly, I don't care. :) I might have to take some shots in the garden, but I'm quite busy these days at the house with repairs and such, plus it is very hot outside

This is great. I like it a lot. So wish the AF Line would come back. Off to share on the front pages.

That's really nice! The exterior paint job is excellent - kudos to the painter. The interior build is developing really well. It certainly looks more appropriate to a tank.

Excuse my French, but holy hell!

That's a substantial difference in detail/quality. You did an amazing job!  DH

I can only repeat previous opinions: The weathering looks fantastic on the Juggernaut! Man, and that .GIF of the Turbo Tank in Revenge of the Sith makes your post extra cool!
I didn't know this playset had so many features! I remember seeing it on shelves back in the day and as far as I know it's become quite rare by now.
That definitely looks like a fun project! Thanks for sharing!

P.S.: When I retire in 40 years or so I dream of building a 1/18 scale remote controlled J5-Juggernaut with some features...I wonder how this will work...I'll defintely post it here, then!
So stay tuned  ;)

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I'll be able to mod the interior more. Right now the most important thing would be a pair seats to put in front for tank drivers (maybe from some toy car, or die-cast car), but the thing is they cannot be deeper than 2.3 cm and not wider than 4 cm, and they need to fit Action Fleet figures. Looked everywhere here, but no luck :( If anyone could help I'd be grateful

Yeah, you can read my comment on your second thread. I know more about toy cars than I do about action fleet...but maybe you can make a mold/an impression of one of your action fleet vehicles. If yoou want to have a "Star Wars seat" you could go ahead and copy one of those Turbo Tank's seats on front or maybe a Snowspeeder seat or any other vehicle you have and fits. So you don't necessarily have to buy a die-cast car or bus...

At the end of the month I'm going to share a little tutorial on here how I make molds & casts with Japanese Oyumaru clay and epoxy modeling clay.
But there are lots of good tutorials on YouTube already!
