The Dashade
« on: January 02, 2010, 03:39:05 PM »
INFO: The Dashade were tall, reptilian humanoids notable for their resistance to the powers of the Force. Though they were rendered nearly extinct during the Great Sith War, remnant populations were seen regularly for millennia, using their natural abilities to their advantage as elite assassins, mercenaries, or similar professions.

RACE: Dashade
HEIGHT: 1.7 to 2 Meters Tall
SKIN: Olive green, dark gray, or black
DISTINCTION: Heat dissipation, high  force-resistance, radiation resistance
LANGUAGE: Dashadi

HOMEWORLD:
Urkupp was a planet located within the Urkupp system of the Outer Rim Territories. The homeworld of the Dashade race, Urkupp was destroyed in 3,996 BBY by the creation of the Cron Drift during the Great Sith War. However Dashade continued by having offworld colonies.

BIOLOGY AND APPEARANCE:
Dashade were tall reptilians with dark skin, lamprey-like mouths, and powerful claws. In addition to their natural Force-resistance, they were resistant to radiation. They also had an ability to dissipate heat which made them hard to detect using standard life-form sensors.

CULTURE AND HISTORY:
Thanks to their partial Force-immunity, Dashade warriors easily found employment as combat instructors for the Jedi and assassins for the Sith, though the Dashade's aggressive, might-makes-right culture caused most of them to favor the Sith.

The Dashade homeworld, Urkupp, was destroyed when the Cron Drift supernova exploded during the Great Sith War, killing off the mass majority of the Dashade. Thirty-eight Dashade Shadow Killers, retainers of a Falleen royal house, were among the off-world survivors. In order to preserve these elite warriors, they were placed in cryogenic suspension, to be revived one at a time when needed for special assignments. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, only one known Dashade remained—Ket Maliss. Prince Xizor, a descendant of the royals who had passed the Dashade down over the generations, inherited this warrior and made him an assassin for Black Sun.

In addition to these preserved warriors, rumors of Dashade sightings continued sporadically over the millennia. For example, there was evidence that Dashade mercenaries participated in the Great Jedi Purge. Some have even theorized that Dashade colonies founded before Urkupp's destruction may have existed.

New Republic Security also became concerned that lost colonies of Dashade may have started working for the Imperial Remnant and in the criminal underworld. To assay their fears, they dispatched a number of adventurers to scout uninhabited star systems close to novas, supernovas, highly charged gas clouds, and even tide-locked worlds from binary star systems. They supplied ships and a mobile HoloNet transceiver to aid them. It is unclear what discoveries were made from these endeavors.
