INFO: The Ansionians, the indigenous species of Ansion.

RACE: Ansionian
HEIGHT: 1.6 Meters Tall
SKIN: Pale Yellow
DISTINCTION: Single nostril, good nightvision
LANGUAGE: Ansionian

HOMEWORLD:
Ansion was a planet in the Mid Rim near Vortex and Bilbringi with wide plains dotted with cities and villages

The planet had a very extensive animal life. Native mammals included the suubatar, a six-legged animal primarily used as a luxury mount, the sadain, a mount often used by those who couldn't afford a suubatar, the shanh, a feared predator that hunted in packs, the surepp, a domestic animal often herded by the nomadic Alwari, and the lorqual, the largest creature of the Ansionian plains. There were also many other creatures, like the spiky tumbleweed-like creature called the Chawix, which was actually a plant. It impaled its prey as the wind carried it. A species of insects called Kyren would often darken the skies. Another being of the planet was the gairk, a creature that would capture prey that fell into its watery habitat by fitting together with others of its kind like a jigsaw puzzle. The weirdest of Ansionian fauna was probably the ongun-nur, a huge but light flying creature that relied on the wind to travel around the plains.

Though small stands of trees dotted the landscape, the world was often swept by high winds, as the number of trees was not plentiful enough to disrupt the airflow. Most species were either avians who rode the wind or sure-footed enough to remain on the ground. Volcanic vents were also common on the planet's surface. There were few hills on the vast prairies, some of them home to the Gwurran, a species related to the dominating native race, the Ansionians. Though definitely smaller, they were very akin to the Ansionians.

INVOLVEMENT IN GALACTIC HISTORY:
In 42 BBY, Ansion formed the Malarian Alliance and signed the Keitumite Mutual Military Treaty. The planet was represented in the Galactic Senate by Senator Mousul. Ansion became the site of a border dispute between the Unity of Community government and the nomadic Alwari, which was resolved by Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luminara Unduli and their respective Padawans Anakin Skywalker and Barriss Offee. The planet was important to the Republic, as other worlds could have been drawn away from the Republic's control if Ansion had seceded, due to its vast array of convoluted interlocking treaties and alliances. The planet chose to remain loyal to the Republic during the Clone Wars.

Decades after not following Dooku and the Separatists into secession, Ansion was overrun by the Yuuzhan Vong as they made their way toward Coruscant.

BIOLOGY AND APPEARANCE:
Anisonian were slender humanoids with pale-yellow skin. Shorter than the average Human, they were hairless save for a single brush of dense fur about fifteen centimeters wide and around seven centimeters tall that ran from their foreheads to the tip of a short tail, which were usually fifteen centimeters long. Although the color varied naturally across the whole spectrum, many Ansonians dyed their manes in a variety of colors and patterns.

They had one nostril, and their hands ended in three long fingers.

CULTURE AND HISTORY:
Although omnivorous, Ansionians ate proportionately more meat than Humans and as such had a mouth full of very sharp, pointed teeth. Their large eyes, usually in some shade of red but occasionally mauve or light yellow, were particularly well suited for seeing in the dark and had small black pupils. Their eyelids closed from the outside towards their nose. They had multiple hearts.

Ansionians had naturally loud laughs, and always went by only a single name. The Gwurran were a subspecies.
