The Woostoid
« on: December 27, 2009, 11:09:50 PM »
INFO: The Woostoids were sapient humanoids indigenous to Woostri. They were known for natural affinity for computer technology.

RACE: Woostoid
HEIGHT: 1.5 Meters Tall
SKIN: Reddish-orange
DISTINCTION: Tall, wiry frames, long life spans, large eyes, intelligence
LANGUAGE: Woostese

HOMEWORLD:
Woostri was a planet in the Expansion Region known for its HoloScan Database, tourism, and automated manufacturing.

Woostri was almost entirely covered by ocean waters, which submerged a massive continent that once covered the planet. What little land remained above water was dominated by the Woostoids' vast automated cities and popular white-sand beaches. Some historians concluded that a major disaster occurred on the planet that caused this land to have sunk into the planet’s fragile crust.

The planet's atmosphere supported organic based life. The plant life of Woostri did not turn out an abundance of oxygen, causing many on the planet to believe it had a thin atmosphere when, in actuality, there was a shortage of oxygen that their bodies were striving to supply them with.

In the Old Republic era, Woostri's array of databases was second only to Coruscant's in size. The Woostoids supported the Empire due to their affinity for order. Woostri eventually joined the New Republic, but was captured by Grand Admiral Thrawn prior to his attack on Coruscant. Thrawn's Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Death's Head led the assault.

BIOLOGY AND APPEARANCE:
Woostoids are of average height (by human standards), but are extremely slender. They have reddish-orange skin and flowing red hair. They have bulbous, pupil-less eyes that rarely blink. Traditionally, they wear long, flowing robes of bright, reflective cloth.

Woostoids are a peaceful species, and the concept of warfare and fighting is extremely disconcerting to them. Woostoids tend to think about situations in a very orderly manner, trying to find the logical ties between events. When presented with facts that seemingly have no logical pattern, they become very confused and disoriented. They find the order of the Empire reassuring, but are distressed by its warlike tendencies.

CULTURE AND HISTORY:
Woostoids were peaceful and were known as intelligent, logical thinkers who disdained abbreviations and shorthand in their communications with others. The average Woostoid was comfortable around computers and many Woostoid cities were automated.

Woostoids also had an affinity for order and structure, which caused them to support the Empire despite their aversion to Palpatine's militaristic ways. A controversial view held by many Woostoids (even after Woostri joined the New Republic) was that the Empire could have led to a galactic paradise were it not for its warlike ways. Woostoids were disoriented by chaotic, illogical situations.

Bureaucracies across the galaxy employed Woostoids in high-level positions to put their analytical minds to work. On Woostri, much of the economy was geared towards recreation due to the leisure time permitted by their automated civilization, and Woostoids welcomed tourists from diverse species to their homeworld.
