HOMEWORLD:Abonshee (literally, Masterhome) was a planet in the Abonshee system of Fakir sector in the Bakchou Arm. It had hardy flora and reptilian fauna. It was home to the reptilian Anointed People, and was located in the Northern Dependencies.
After being discovered by the Galactic Republic, Abonshee remained under the protection of the Galactic Senate, eventually joining the Galactic Empire upon its founding. Reekeene's Roughnecks, a diplomatic group from the Rebel Alliance, traveled to Abonshee to gain the Anointed's support.
Siding with the New Republic, the world was relatively safe from the Yuuzhan Vong War, joining the Galactic Alliance at the end of the war. As of 137 ABY Abonshee was controlled by Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.
BIOLOGY AND APPEARANCE:The Anointed People, native to Abonshee, are green-skinned, lizard-based humanoids. They are somewhat larger and stronger than humans, but also slower and clumsier. They stand upright on two feet, balanced by a large tail. Their heads are longer and narrower than humans and are equipped with an impressive set of pointed teeth. Typical Anointed People dress in colorful robes and carry large cudgels; the nobility wear suits of exotic scale armor and carry nasty-looking broadswords.
The Anointed People live in a primitive feudal hierarchy: the kingdom's Godking on the top, below the Godling nobles, and below them the Unwashed - the lower class that does most of the work. The Unwashed are big, burly, cheerful, and ignorant. They do not know or care about life beyond their small planet they call "Masterhome".
CULTURE AND HISTORY:Anointed People lived in a feudal society with the nobility known as the 'Godlings' ruling over the serfs known as 'Unwashed'. Huge fortified castles were home to the Godlings. The whole society and the planet was ruled by the Godking.
In the past The Anointed People were very warlike with the Godlings constantly fighting territorial battles with each other. Territorial wars have given way to annual Springs gatherings in which the Godlings dress up in fine clothes, meet potential mates and visit distant lands. The battles at these gatherings were almost totally bloodless. The loser of the 'war' paid for the three day party that ensued.
The Anointed People dressed in colorful robes, carrying cudgels. The nobility wore exotic scale armor suits and carried broad swords. Titles used by the Anointed People are largely symbolic, a left over from a previous time.
TECHNOLOGY:Technology on Abonshee had not reached the level of mechanization. Swords, shields, wooden and stone buildings and animal-drawn carts were common. Poor sanitation created major health problems such as a high infant mortality rate.
