Hi here !
As said a long time before, I've got to restart all (with less time and less available space).
Nothing is complete, many work to do everywhere, rooms are not on final place.
Enough talk ;)
-
I hate to hear less time and space Franck. The last I remember you were working on an Executor bridge. Did that one get axed? I sure hope not! It was looking great.
-
Looking good. This is definately on my long list of dios to do.
-
Franck, long time no see, buddy!
I see that you are hard at work again. As always, your stuff looks stunning.
-
Glad to see ya back, Franck!
-
Just enough time to post 3 pix
-
Hi !
Thanks to all for your welcome back ;)
(As you can see, my english is still bad ;) ;) )
About Executor Bridge, it's like all the rest : complete restart from the beginning.
About DS dio, all is (or will be) rebuild too.
This level (Lord Vader's Hallway) will have more lightning panels, maybe two or three, I will see, depending of total intensity of lightning.
A new Breifing Room is 95% complete, just lightning and some adjustements needed (take a look to pix)
All wall details are on the way, it's a long long, long thing to do, but (in my mind) better than any decal.
-
holy shit !!! those are awesome!!!
-
Awesome work! The last shot of Vader and the trooper look like a movie frame.
-
looks really amazing man!
-
Hi !
Here are new pix of the prototype (Many things doesn't look good to me, so, I put the dio in "Beta" version)
Lightning is missing of course.
Maybe Briefing Room will be in other place, with different orientation.
-
looks awesome man!
-
Welcome back mate and fantastic dio.
Ron
-
Revenge of the Diorama! Well done and welcome back.
-
Wow awesome stuff....
Really impressed with all of it. Puts mine too shame!!!
-
Looks good. Back on the front page.
-
Thanks to all of you !
I just finished the second level's skeleton.
Emperor's Arrival coming soon ;)
-
Ok, let's go ;)
Some changes here and here :P
Emperor's Arrival level takes place, Briefing Room is now on a right place, next to the new Detention Block (just the beginning, but you can remember the first version last year, it's just an evolvement)
Falcon's Bay in right place, need to add many details.
Prototypes of Emperor's Arrival pylons doesn't please me, sure make another group of them, maybe trying lightning effect.
Enough listen to me, please take a look :D
-
Looking good, Franck. I like the shape of those pylons ok.
-
its awesome!
-
Looks awesome so far
-
Amazing work so far I can't wait to see this complete.
Ron
-
Hi ;
No big change since too many weeks :-[ Just put a layer of paint on the future Emperor's Arrival main wall
I've started a prototype for Jabba's palace, but doesn't please me anyway. (And too big for available space :'( )
Oh, by the way, my HD are dead, 95% of my datas are lost. Really annoying, isn't it ?
-
How have I missed this? Looking great! I can't wait to see more of this.
-
Hi ;
Just for fun, I put some figures on Emperor's Arrival level.
You can see two 'new pylons' on the way, not finished, and others have some paint for next step.
Figures in place are not really movie accurate (what the hell does Grand Admiral Thrawn here, and part of the Joker Squad next to some TFU stormtroopers, no one knows, but who cares ? ;D)
-
Franck! Very, very nice pics!
Comment allez-vous?
-
wow, its huge :o
unbelievable, great work!! the Falcon part is my fav spot :)
-
thats a seriously wicked dio !
-
woow, great dio man!
-
WOW this is going to be EPIC.
Ron
-
OH.....MY.....GOD!
Just when I thought no-one could do anything with the Death Star that hadn't already been done! Your diorama / Play-set is possibly the Shineyest thing I have ever seen. The scale, the design, this really is shaping up to be something seriously beyond awesome!
Really stunning work so far...
-
That looks awesome
-
ju.. ju ...just ...a ...maze me :o
-
Hi here !
Sorry for long time without coming here.
I have started some enhancements here and here.
Please take a look
PS : AT-AT picture is a "bonus" ;) Can't resist to post it
-
Mate don't be sorry we all get tied up doing other things and it's greta to see more pics from you, and as I said before looking forward to seeing more pics and keep up teh great work.
Ron
-
Those AT-AT and AT-ST re great man!
-
Beginning of the main wall side of Falcon's bay and some updates.
-
Great pics man!
-
Ok, let me start by saying this dio RULES! Second, what did you use to make the floors? And how did you make them shine like that, or was the material already shiny? Also what did you use for the walls? I want to get into dio making, but I've never done it before so I'm just trying to learn from someone with skills like you. Thank you.
-
this is some great stuff ! :P jealous ..
-

Wood, foamcore, foam, cardboard, paint, glue and time, time, time, time and some more time ;)
-
thats great. :)
-
Very great work, Franck! I can tell that this would take some time.
-
Thanks to all of you ! :)
Here are now some Detention Block Pix.
First, without any flash, internal lightning only.
-
Now, with flash, (internal lightning on, but less visible)
-
sweet!!
-
thats awesome
-
cool, very nice pics, I like the ones without flash most :)
-
great dios
-
Thanks again ;D
Update of Death Star Briefing Room is on the way.
3 steps :
1. Wall blocks and rear panel details must be added
2. Wall blocks will have internal lightning
3. A cover is needed
Step 1 started now !
Here's two pix of actual state of the "thing"
-
Very nice! I too cobbined that old detention block dio from Hasbro into a bigger playset. Yours is betteras you had 2 to complete the scene. Love the flash off pics, thanks. The Briefing Room is coming along great! Looks like you are familure with nuibnuib's universe.
-
lookin pretty damn awesome
-
... Looks like you are familure with nuibnuib's universe.
Sure, but don't want to use wall decals, I prefer real details, not the easier/faster way ;)
Soon a shot from wall blocks enhancements (in fact, I'm waiting for complete charge of my camera's batteries ;D)
-
"Et Hop !"
Lightning test (LED not in right position, but it give an idea of final look).
You can see diffrence between the two wall blocks (from the illuminated one) and the others.
A second layer is needed on top of blocks, there's a transparency effect, pouahhh...
-
:o wow...looks FANTASTIC!!!!!
can't wait to see it finished
-
Looks amazing man, nice job!
-
Dude, I can't wait to see it finished!
-
oh that is a nice shot and will be breathtaking when you get the LED's positioned right. I agree with you that your panel details are much better that the print outs. You are doing a fantastic job with this! Press on man!
-
Excellent work! I'd love to use your dio's in my photo novel...
-
That briefing room is looking fantastic!
-
I'm jealous. Deeply. I should do something similar, but not the DS. More like... OS. Outland Station. Gorgeous work.
-
Today's update.
Only wall blocks details.
Starting back rear wall.
-
Great pics, cant wait till is finished man!
-
Nice update, it is looking great! All the time cutting out these details will really pay of when this is done! Keep up the good work.
-
Awesome! This is looking massive and awesome!! I'm loving all this WIP stuff!!
-
Very Nice !! (http://smilies.blazemint.com/s/otn/wink/thumb.gif)
I need to update my DSBR with a curved wall. ;D
-
Second lightning tube is done (I need to work again on them, they don't really please me, and building procedure must be improved )
Some shots, with the "bonus".
Wall parts can be easyly moved, allowing me to create more or less movie accurate scene.
-
Looks great Franck, on the front page. I really like the lighted circular tubes. It really does look great.
It is about time I highlighted your store and the great discount you are offering to the Shipyarders too.
-
This is really cool!
-
Looks great. I'd ask you to post information on materials used; but based on the amount of time that looks to have gone into the construction, I won't bother. :)
-
what an iconic scene! fantastic job!!
-
That is amazing! Good job!
-
really good
-
This diorama seems to have so many different parts and sections, all of which are meticulous. It's a real pleasure seeing this come togsther.
-
No pix this time...
I have worked from 06h30 to 16h30 on a new dio who need to be collapsible for travel ;)
I will expose it on Migennes-Collector 7 event (febr- 2011, 26-27th). About Migennes 7, guests are Dirk Benedict (A-Team and Galactica 78), Tim Rose (puppeteer Salacious Crumb and Sy Snootles, alslo Admiral Ackbar) and Robert Watts (executive productor ANH - TESB- ROTJ)
Happy new year to all Yarders !
-
Stay tuned, pix on a few moments ;)
No paint job done, (I must buy some materials tomorow, and no time this week for painting :'( )
-
Let's go !
First, the 'thing' collapsed, ready to fit in a box.
3d playset is just for scale
-
Now, the same thing build
-
And know, with some figures
-
This is really looking great, DR. It's a sizable playset that looks to have a lot of playability when completed. I can't wait to see how you flesh it out with color!
-
Oh.
My.
WOW!
And I'm with Pat - looking forward to seeing it with paint sloshed on! What did you build it from?
-
Looking Good! This is a great start!
-
For this dio, I use "polysterene" and a litte bit foamcore (for stairs behind the doors on left room).
Painting job will be the most anoying thing to do (I don't like paint job, but result is better than decals)
Between layers of paint, I must build the lightning, and the Solo Alcove too.
Overall size : 1.2 meters / 65 centimeters, just the size of one table on Migennes Collector Event, very strange isn't it ? ;D
And all (figures and walls) fit in a standard 80*40 cm box.
That whas the challenge...
-
Looks awesome.
What kind of paint will you use for this? Acrylics?
-
Very cool, i need a Jabba's palace throne room so bad....this is looking great.
-
This dio will be to sell, no final price for the moment, waiting for cost of paint and other material needed to finish it.
-
Looks awesome.
What kind of paint will you use for this? Acrylics?
I will try a mix of different, but acrylic well be the main.
-
ooohhh I love the way you've shaped the styrene, or whatever materials you've been using. The whole thing as huge potential!
Looking forward to more! ;D
-
Great job on the cuts and I can't wait to see the colors
-
woow, this is an amazing work man!
-
I can see it in my head now. This is going to look stunning, Franck!
-
First try of painting done (I'm not a good painter :( ) - Pix tomorrow, I promise ;)
And starting of a new project for Migennes-Collector 7.
Admiral Ackbar will be there, so I just began a quick version of a Home One Conference Room. It need to be collapsible too.
The bigger problem is the lack of rebels figure in my own collection.
I bought some figures and do what you can see on pix.
I'm waiting for much figures in the next week.
[edit : same picture two times, one missing)
-
This is looking really good. I envy you having enough room for these dioramams. I would love to have this one!
-
I don't have enough space ??? ???
Death Star Dio is taking all available space.
That's why Jabba and Home One dios will be sold on march... :-\
-
oh nooooooooooooo!
-
I really miss my Hoth Dio made some years ago. But regrets are useless ::)
-
This is a really nice dio man!
-
As I promised, here are the pictures !
Floor is not the good one ;D
-
This is looking really cool man
-
Thank U
-
that looks good, Jabba is on my list to give a home to as well
-
It's coming along nicely, franck. This is going to kick some serious butt.
-
Damn impressive work so far keep it going mate.
Ron
-
Jabba's Palace with figures.
Colours doesn't really please me, but I hate painting.
Ground not done.
-
Oh yeah, looks good. This will be on the front page before too long. Nice work Franck.
-
This really looks great! Superb!
-
Thanks buddies :)
As I said to Clint, I'm working on a new version of Home One Death Star Attack Briefing.
It will be bigger than first try. Pictures in a few days 8)
-
Oh yeah, it's looking good all populated, Franck!
-
that is awesome got to build me one
-
Looks great, I need a Jabba's Palace dio.
-
looks awesome
-
still an awesome custum though
-
Very Nice work Darth Revenge, I have started a Jabbas Palace dio as well and have been looking up all the obscure background characters which have not been made yet. Wow is there alot! Love the work, very motivating!!
rd
-
Woow thats awesome!
-
That one looks great. It`s small enough to store it at a frame, but big enough to present a lot of figs.
I like it!
I saved the pics on my computer for further reference, I have ideas for a Jabba Dio, too.
-
Many thanks to all of you, and especially to the Yards team for front page and support on facebook !
I start a new topic for the Home One Death Star Attack Briefing : http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=6380.0
-
Franck thanks for sharing your great dioramas with us.
-
exciting throne room!!
-
Back from Migennes-Collector event ! Complete report ASAP.
Mr Tim Rose in front of Jabba's Palace ;D
Thanks to him, a really nice person !
-
Great pic Franck! On the front page. I can't wait to see the write up!
-
Very cool pic and diorama!!
-
Hi here !
No visit since a fiew monthes, my life was "complex" a lot...
All dioramas where collapsed, no room available for those until 4 weeks.
So => I just have to restart all.
Skeleton is done.
-
The good new is : I've started again a Hoth diorama...
-
Hey Franck, good to hear that. That Hoth dio is already looking good!
-
Wow those are great. Really makes me want to get working on mine again.
-
Tatooine's Cantina on the way ;)
First layer of paint now drying...
Pixs as soon I can take the blocks without leaving finger's print on them ;)
-
Entrance walls will be changed, need to work on many details...
-
Diorama is now in his place, DS diorama can be see in background
-
New lightning panels, a swith is added on a wall.
Blastdoors can be closed/open, just for fun.
-
More pictures
-
Very nice Franck, on the front page.
-
Thank you ;)
-
WOW !!! that is perfect.
-
Wow, Franck, very nice, my friend! You must have A LOT of space in your house, for so many AWESOME dioramas...
-
Red Control room added.
First shot without internal lightning, second with.
Two other pictures => overall view (as you can see, work in progress ;D )
-
Oh man!!! Brilliant!!! I must get back to work on some of my Dioramas after seeing this beautiful work! Thanks for the inspiration! :D
-
This is just awesome! That is a great set up and I am so jealous of your display area! Man you have put some time and great work into that set up! Very well done, I want to come play!
-
You're most welcome Luke ;)
-
Holy cow Franck! This just rocks.
Love that bottom Hoth Dio. Back on the front page.
-
AMAZING dios!! gorgeous Red Control Room and Death Star Hallway!!
-
Here are some new pictures.
Not movie accurate at all, I put the "Swing to Freedom Pit" above the Falcon bay...
-
More pics again
-
Working on Cantina's seats. Pix today ;D
-
The seats...
Not movie accurate, but once again, time is my foe...
-
wow looks great canĀ“t wait to see more :)
-
walrus man must have farted in that last pic
;D
-
WOW! talk about EPIC...Loving the latest set of updates...
-
Very nice Franck. Back on the front page.
-
Man that Death Star dio is amazing. But I really would like to have a Cantina dio of my own. Your work is beyond excellent.
-
Tractor beam generator control was missing...
Still have paint and some details to add....
-
Looking good!
great job on the cantina!
I just love giant dios like these.
-
More internal lightning in DS Red Control Room.
Added two self-illuminated screens and some buttons. It's just the beginning.
First picture with flash, second without.
-
wow i would call this most movie accurate :) great job it really looks like in the movie ;)
-
WOW! More awesome shots! Very nice work on recreating these scenes from the film.
-
very cool, are you going to detail it out?
-
Looks great Franck. I really liked that Falcon Hangarbay shot. Back on the front page.
-
Than you ;)
Some new upgrades on Red Control Room. Positives tests !! ;D
More lightning, more items on control panels, pictures in night/day/on/off conditions in a few days (need to cut and put many wires behind)
-
That red control room looks very nice Franck!
-
Not finished yet, but here are some pictures anyway ;)
Control Panels block is still on the workbench ;D
Red light on the right is too strong, need to remove it and find another one, less bright.
-
YOWZA! That control panel is seriously cool! Excellent job!
-
Looking great! You have done a great job lighting it!
-
Thanks ;D
Still working on it.
More lights (again), more details for a better "movie-like" style.
Pics soon ;D
-
Here are the pics !
Added a 3 position switch for further enhancements.
On the first two pictures, look carefuly at some lights... On 1st picture, they are off, on second, optionnals lights are on.
-
Love it! Lighting just takes it to a whole new level.
-
aaaaargggghhhhhhhhh, I love it!
what did you use, fiber optics?
-
Yes, some fibers and leds.
-
What an excellent diorama. Creating the separate booths so that they all line up is not easy (well not for me anyway) and so I can really appreciate the hard work you've put into this. The lighting takes it to a whole new level.
Really superb work!
-
Awesome work! I love this scene and the lights look perfect now!
-
Wow, someone is turning into a lighting expert. Expect to see some of this on our fp soon.
-
Thanks !
No time this week for doing something on my dios :(
Next step : The Emperor's Arrival ;D
-
Again, great stuff...
what material did you use for the Death Star console?
-
Foam, foam, foam, a little bit more foam and some colored stickers sheets ;D White lights are sheets of white plastic with leds behind
And of course, Leds, wires, optic fibers, a switch.
-
I would love to see a pic by pic step tutorial if you make another great station like that.
Got this up on our Facebook page too.
-
Incredible man, awesome! :o
-
Beautiful! Excellent work, love the whole lighting effect.
-
.../...
Next step : The Emperor's Arrival ;D
Here is the beginning :
-
My God!!! Dum Dum Dum, di di, di dum, di dum.... < Imperial March. ;D Nice setup man.
-
Oh yeah, this is gonna be awesome. Nice update Franck.
On the front page yet again.
-
really nice dio
great job
-
This looks awesome! It seems too precise to be foam board and looks more like it was made from wood. So, how many blades have you gone through? About 3 cuts and you have to grab a new one right?
-
Thanks buddies !
Many Bothan blades are dead yes ;)
-
These are cool, I was admiring them while I have been looking for inspiration.
-
Third attempt to post...
Yeessssssssss !
I'm happy (and proud, it's useless to hide ;) )
Remember my old Tie Rack ?
Update done, all foamcore and foam, just a little plastic piece for hanging on the wall or what you want else !
Based on Rodger's design (like olders racks)
I can put on the rack all sort of Tie : Tie fighters, Tie interceptor (vintage and 30th), Tie Bomber, and even Tie-X1 ;D
Because of Tie's weight, I must have to multiply foam layers, and using foamcore (more expensive) too. The cardboarded sides of foamcore give a better resistance. Without this, rack bend and finally break. (Trying last day, and the Vintage Tie interceptor breaks on of the rack arm, and... Big boum badaboum, Tie has falling. As an except, I was lucky and no damage on my precious Interceptor... ;D
I haven't oversized wings Tie, so I can't try with them...
Let's the show begin !
More update to come, I've got another idea pour those racks !
-
Very cool!
-
Awesome Franck. On the front page.
-
That's cool
-
Very awesome man!
-
good looking stuff, that's @$$ load of foamcore. I love it and can't wait to see it finished.
-
Three lower parts of Multi-Tie Rack are build. Need to build 3 anothers and 6 higher parts. A pylon under each rack will be added, so I need to build 6 others DS pylons. I spend some time for improving building process... Without any success :-\
Pictures as soon all 3 last racks build.
On the other side, I'm working on the Endor Shuttle platform.
This is for an event in 2012. Platform must be collapsible for transport, not the easier way to build this thing...
-
Here it is !
Some figure throw on the level just for fun... Alignment is bad, figures aren't in good place, but it's not the final version.
As you can see, all 6 lower parts of the multi-Tie Racks are done. Only the Tie Rack next to the 181st Interceptor have a beginning of upper part.
My former idea was to put some pylons under them, but I prefer let the place empty, you will see why later ;)
Hope you will enjoy !
-
Wow, this is fantastic
-
Great hangar display!!
-
Yes, this is an awesome display! The ships look great now that they are hanging! Most impressive!
-
Looks great Franck! That first shot is sweet. I cropped a bit of it for the front page image and man does it look like it came straight from Return of the Jedi!
-
Thank You guys !
First part of upper rack now done.
No more update for a few days, no time available in a hand, and in the other hand, all pre-paint stock of sheets is used. I must paint some sheets before working again on cuts. (I repeat it, I hate paint job, but it's necessary)
While paint drying process (pouahhh, 24/36 hours between two layers), I sure draw some Endor Platform parts...
-
Awesome how or can you get me closer pics on how you were able to hang the ships I wanted to do that to my Death Star. But, I have to say great work
-
Just caught this on the front page - absolutely brilliant!
-
JTrooper => Here are two shots of the last prototype :
-
No white part on Racks, better...
-
Worked a little bit on Hoth dio.
New place for Snowspeeder and X-Wing on the bay. I have rescaled the "Ice part" , need place on top for two others levels.
Ship's holes are going to be enlighted, one is done :)
Ice must be a little blue, done too, no paint, just light ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
First picture with flash, second, without
-
love seeing another Hoth dio but I really hate that nubs style of ice walls, but looking forward to seeing this one progress
-
Looking good! Are you going to cover it with wood glue or plaster or anything that will make it stronger and fill in the deep lines a bit? This is going to be awesome!
-
Oh thats sweet!
-
New Bacta-Tank lighting.
Shots in a black room, without flash
Maybe I'll try some snow in spray for the wall, maybe... I need to keep translucent matter because of led blue effet. With plaster, no more blue...
-
WOW that hanger is just exceptional and the Hoth dio is coming along brillantly.
Ron
