Looking good Pat. I really like that orange on the jets. It is all coming together nicely.

I too, like the clear orange on the engines. Looks good, buddy. You don't have far to go on this, do you?

Thanks for the good words everyone!  I'm really liking this one, and want to make an entire fleet of ships in these colors, but we'll take it one step at a time!

Just a few more touch-ups and some light weathering, and she'll be ready for action!

Ok, my Vanguard A-Wing is 98% finished: Just need to weather it.  I'm not happy with it, but I've come this far and I shall finish it.  That yellow just did NOT dry well on it.  Too transparent.  I love the orange on the jets and the flat medium blue I used, and the pearl white is what I had imagined, but will do better next time with the spray on.  Anyway, here are the final results, minus the weathering...

I do like the color scheme on this. Are you using enamels on this one, Pat?

No, acrylics.  I used a spray acrylic for the base coat and hand painted the other colors.  I like enamels because there are so many more color options out there, but they need a LONG time to dry adequately.  But, when they do, they look good in my opinion!

I realy like using enamels for vehicles, the seem to do realy well on the hard plastic.  But you have to be careful with some of the newer hasbro ships as some of the small detail parts they put in there are using that new rubbery plastic that the figures use and for some reason enamels WILL NOT adhere and dry on that material.

as for your a-wing, I think it looks awesome.  Do the engine plumes have lights in them?  if not I would definately install some LEDs in the engines and in the cockpit!

Spud, I'd LOVE to put some LEDs in there to light the fires, but for whatever reason, I can NOT get that concept down.  I've ruined several projects trying to incorporate LEDs.  I don't know why it's giving me so much grief, because I actually understand electronics and wiring pretty well, but it is just not working out for me.

Holy Crap, that looks awesome!   I love it because its totally unique color scheme IMO and I love it because I'm an A-Wing and I always love seeing paint variations.  NICE!!!

phatty, if you'd like I'd love to work on it for you, if you could pay the shipping both ways and give me a few bucks for whatever LED's and electronics I use.  I'd love to work on adding some LED's to it.
