Various Minor Brand Dinosaurs

NKOK is a companny known for making RC vehicles, but they have dabbled in articulated and battery operated dinosaur toys.

NKOK "Wow World" articulated mini dinosaur 6pk:

NKOK "Wow World" mid sized articulated dinosaur 3pk:

I picked up the mini 6pk and am quite happy with the quality. The paint apps are a bit sloppy but that is nothing I cannot fix.

The larger battery operated and RC dinosaurs are rather goofy looking and most feature rubber necks which will crack and degrade over time.

Cool dinosaurs!  I gotta wonder how many do you even have in your collection? I follow your posts so I'm sure your overall collection of toys must be insanity! :o

As soon as I get another phone (mine is several years old and the camera on mine does not focus properly any longer), I will post some updated pics of my Hobby Room.

I look forward to that. With all your dinos I bet you could shoot a miniature version of Jurassic World!

I was killing some time in Paramus tonight waiting for my wife to get out of class and hit TJ Maxx on Rt17.

They had the Wow World large articulated dinosaur 3pks for $12.99. I had picked up the mini 6pks last year at Tuesday Morning but had never seen the large sets in person until tonight. I grabbed a set for myself.

Word of warning: check the stegasauruses closely as the back plates are a separate piece glued over a large gap in the body halves and are not exactly the right size. I found a set with only a miniscule gap left in the front and back which I will fill with contour putty before I repaint it, but all of the remaining sets had a sizable gap either in the front behind the neck or in the back before the tail.

Spotted some new Dinosaur "action figures" at Marshalls tonight. I put action figures in quotes as they only have 1 point of articulation (jaws on the T-rex and Spino and head on the Pterodactyl), which makes them better than Hasbro's upcoming 0 POA "Star Wars" line.

They are on par with Safari Ltd. figurines as far as detail and paint and are pretty solid and hefty so they are not bad for the $7.99 pricepoint but I passed on them as I already have superior versions of all 3 species.

The thing that ticks me off with the no movement line is the fact they are trying to do better sculpting on it it seems than their regular super arty line, if there is such a thing anymore.

Cheap but awesome creature alert!

This vinyl Pteranodon can be found at Walmarts across the country in the wire bins full of cheap vinyl dinosaurs, insects, safari animals and sea life for $1 each.

Unlike the rest of the vinyl animals available in the bins, this one is solid vinyl. The rest are usually hollow, sonic welded vinyl halves that you can compress with your hand. These are solid, hefty and far above the quality of their binmates.

I actually prefer these vinyl pteranodons to just about any of Mattel's "Jurassic World" versions since they don't have that stupid midwing swivel. The sculpts are really nice but the paint is extremely basic as is befitting a dollar toy. Once they get a repaint, I believe they will look spectacular in dioramas. And with their low MSRP, you can acquire a flock of them inexpensively (however, this will take some time as they appear to be 1 per shipping container of 36 dinosaurs).

Seriously, I pick up every single one I find (I must have at least 3 dozen of them in a box in my crawlspace).

Wow World is now producing larger, electronic light and sound articulated dinosaurs. They measure about 12" in length and have light up mouths and make the stereotypical "Godzilla" roars when their feature is activated.

There are 4 dinosaurs in the assortment- Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Dilophasaurus(with "Jurassic Park" style neck frills) and Carnotaurus.

They retail for $7.99 each and were found at "Home Goods".

There is a line of approximately 3"-4" long unarticulated vinyl dinosaurs showing up at Poundland stores in the UK called "Prehisterror" by a company called "TXA".

Four of the five available species are ones that are extremely common and offered by just about every company that has ever had or ever will make dinosaur toys, but the fifth species is this awesome looking and brightly colored Archaeopteryx!

I REALLY hope that this line makes it to the US as I want at least 6 of these!
