Great start!  Sometimes the simplest things are the best.

The clone is perfect, and the jedi general takes the cake.

don't be nervous... I'm the most critical one on here, and I'll only criticize when I think you can make it better ;) so you should never take criticism badly, just as an urge to push yourself

Welcome to the shipyards! Those customs look great! I've always been a fan of Kel Dors  :)
Nice looking paint job on that clone, looks like you took your time and added some nice detail.

I love the photo of the clone and the general, your customs are subtle and look great. I've not done many customs and I started just the same as you.

My advice...don't worry about making mistakes, be patient and if at first you don't succeed try again.

Welcome to the Yards, your first  post is awesome!

Welcome to the yards Luman! Your first customs are great. I really like the Jedi and Clone you have done. A very classic look with the black and white.

Sweet i made the front page. Im glad everyone likes the General.  I lost the tip of my finger making that one. luckly its growing back.

I really liked Spudafett's idea of making himself as a figure. So i made myself.

This one was really easy to do and so far its my favorite. I dont have a back ground story but figured by the way he looks he could fit into and time period. I think he looks awsome as a jedi but also could be anything else i want. Just got to slap a blaster in his hand. Im thinking about putting a holster on the robes...what do you guys think?

Looks cool to me. I think I recognize the paris snake eyes trenchcoat but could you give us a recipe on the rest of this figure? Where did that head come from?
Title: Re: Luman's Customs
Post by: spudafett on January 12, 2010, 08:52:26 PM
awesome!  looks great.   I think it'd look better as a smuggler or thug than jedi... something about the trenchcoat just doesn't say "jedi warrior of the peace"... lol

a holster would be a great addition.  Something I've been wanting to try is adding the holsters from a CW rex, or other clone's kama to the trenchcoat.  That's something you might give a try.  IDK how it'd look though...

I also think you either need to repaint the trenchcoat or match the arms to the trenchcoat, it just seems off color wise somehow...

are the arms of the figure from a TFU Rom Kota fig?

Clonehead you are correct. The trench coat is from snake eyes. the body and the shoulder armor are from the kota figure and the head is from the jedi version of the Evolutions Darth Vader's Secert Apprentice.

Spudafett i was thinking about paint him differetly but i dont knw what colors. I want them tobe dark colors though, because i want him to seem as though he is a little tained by the dark side and he has seen some stuff. I don't know just yet though.

I realy like that clone commander. ;D

might I suggest some colors?  I would use flat black on the coat and arms to make it look more like natural leather.  then use dark browns, that are almost black, for the tunic and under robes.  Testors acrylic has a brown I realy like that is titled "leather".  Mixing it with a little flat black makes an EXCELENT dark brown leather look.   go even farther by dry brushing the "leather" areas with a dark flat great to give it some depth, but not too much....
and for the small parts of armor, a dark red or dark blue maybe?  depending on your favorite colors... heck even a dark deep green would be good.  And I would also use semi-gloss or gloss paint for the armor, to give it that distinction of looking metal.

That is an awesome self custom. I could see some type of half armor mask on this self cast too. Talk about menacing!

These are some great looking customs luman, the clone trooper paint job is a very clever idea, not the usual, so well done there...and the Jedi general is another very worthy custom, a great mix of parts.

Glad to see everyone liked the clone. Nice pun Clonehead. Dont know if you ment it that way, but i liked it.  Cimter there is no back story but if you want to make one up go for it. I just thougth the head looked good on the body and luke skywalker is everywhere and i havent seen a Kel-dor pilot anywhere, so i figured why not.

LOL, you mean as far as me saying that your name was up in lights. Nope, no pun intended, I was just referring to your name being on the front page.

i use the "Model Master Acryl". Its made by Testors. I used the Testors enamel for the clone i made for my brother. I like the Model Masters better. it drys fast and makes it look like it came out of the package , atleast to me it does. I get mine from Hobby Lobby and its $3.29.

You are really talented!
Thanks i really appreciate it!
