Oh, it's a newer Phillips lcd that I bought last year. Like I said, I'm running it through HDMI and the tv states that it's displaying a  1080P signal as I start the blu-ray. It just doesnt seem that much tighter than a normal dvd. I rented another blu-ray dvd this weekend. Perhaps it will look better.

Our local rental place has just started renting blu-ray dvds and I rented one the other day. I don't know if it is because the ps3 is upscaling the regular dvds or what but I still can't tell that much of a difference as far as resolution goes in between the blu-ray dvds and the regular ones. Sure, the color might be slightly brighter but it's not the difference that I was expecting.
  Has anyone else noticed this?

Now I think that they look a bit better, but not that much.

mines nothing compared to the ones at the stores , i think maybe becasue ps3 isnt as good as the best blue rays out there that cost almost 1000 $

Darth Aussie:
No thats not true, you still have to set the PS3 to gen 1080p settings....
