ANAKIN'S LIGHTSABRE (cross section)
Today I want to show you my first Star Wars 3D design drawing. I used the Siemens UNIGRARPHICS NX 7.5 program to make this 3d model of Anakin's Lightsabre.
I am a designer for point operating systems (austrian railway construction VAEE) and I use this program very often in my job.
My next project will be a DC-15s blaster depending on whether you like the drawings or not.
model: LIGHTSABRE (Anakin)
program: UG NX 7.5 (model + drawing)
designer: FialaFernbrugg

Looks great! Plus (on a side note) railway construction seems like it would be very interesting.

I honestly don't see how you can say that. Seriously. This is the caliber of artwork you expect to find in an RPG book or "complete technology/cross-sections" book.
(side note - I used to build model railroads ages ago - and keep toying with the idea of getting back into it, but this time using an "ultra-modern/cyberpunk" setting.)
-
these are very well done, I would love to see some OT blasters done too!
-
christoph these are superb!
-
That is awesome Christoph. You are a man of many tallents!
-
WAHNSINN!!! *** AWESOME :o :o
Das haut mich um, Christoph, super tolle 3D Arbeit, einfach nur genial!
superb 3D design work, excellent presentation, pure dope, can't wait to see more.
-
Very cool, I love seeing the blueprint approach looks great.
-
thanks for the great comments
Road Warrior: thx a lot and yeah, it is an interesting job
DocOutlands: thank you Doc. I would like to see some pics of your model railroad
Spookymufu: thanks Spooky. The DC-15s and DC-15a are my next projects but I'll think about your OT blaster idea when they are done
wraithnine: thank you very much Jay
Luke Sprywalker : thank you LE
Art deWhill: Vielen vielen Dank Stefan. Es freut mich sehr, dass dir das Laserschwert gefällt. Ich werde mich bemühen noch weitere Projekte zu zeichnen auch wenn die Dinger ziemlich zeitaufwendig sind.
Reconsgt: thx a lot. the blueprint is unfortunately a bit pixelated

Oh....My.....Lord!
Your 3d work is amazing! I can't believe the variety of work being shown on this forum. Not so long ago it seemed like I was the only one here, now it's rapidly catching up with custom figures in terms of viewing figures and it's not surprising with work like this being posted here.
I am stunned, quite literally stunned!
-
WOW!!
That is the most AMAZING cross sections work I have ever seen!!!
Beautiful!!!
I would love to see anything else in sections that you are willing to make!!!
Keep up the great work!!!
Rich

Jules & Rich: Thank you guys. I'm glad you like it.
-
Wow, I think this is fabulous. On the front page.
I would love to see an AT-AT Schematic using this program! O0
-
lol
thank you Shawn
I guess I need a bigger hard drive. Two terabytes should be enough for a complete AT-AT ;)

thank you VA
I completed the DC-15s magazine. The rest will follow soon.

DC-15s blaster carbine magazine
This is the first of four assemblies of my DC-15s cross section. The rest will follow soon.
DC-15 blasters fired charged plasma bolts, activated by tibanna gas carried in replaceable blaster cartridges. The power packs were the same as the DC-15A blaster rifle, which allowed the same power as their larger cousin. These gas cartridges lasted for around 500 shots, on the weapon's lower power settings. [wookieepedia]
program: UG NX 7.5
designer: FialaFernbrugg
no. of parts: 15
working hours: 6
I hope you like it
next assembly is the barrel of the DC-15s
my reference model: Sideshow 1/6 scale DC-15s

einfach unglaublich geiles Zeug, wenn ich das so sagen darf!! ich beneide dich um deine technische Vorstellungskraft und Geduld.
JUST MIND-BLOWING.... fabulous work, Christoph!
-
The magazine looks fantastic FF, just one question, I seem to remember from somewhere that the side magazine was the power pack for the blaster and that the Tibana Gas cartridge was in the rear of the weapon and was exchangeable by removing the end cap. Or am I thinking of the E-11
-
VERY nicely done! Goning to have to check out UG NX 7.5.....
-
I really like this!
-
Fiala,
Those are just extraordinary! I can't say I've ever seen anything on the SW forums, or any forum in fact, quite like it.
You are giving us all a wonderful insight into the workings of a Galaxy Far Far Away...an exceptional and totally unique piece of work....
-
That is awesome Christoph! As Jules said, I have never seen anything like this done before.
-
Sweet, on the front page.
Holy cow that is great. I too have never seen anything like this.
-
I love these kind of images, thats why I have the Incredible Cross Section book, it's really neat to see how people envision the workings of our iconic props/toys
-
thank you very much for your great comments
Stefan: Ich danke dir. Jetzt bin ich richtig motiviert weiter zu machen.
VA: That is an interesting aspect. It is hard to find detailed information about the DC-15 so I can't say where the Tibanna gas cartridges are. I will try your idea when I make the E-11.
RW: yeah, it is a great CAD program
CL: thank you
Jules: thank you very much Jules. I'm glad you like it my friend.
LE: thank you. I hope they will make a cross section book with Star Wars weapons one day
Shawn: as always, thank you for the fp
Spooky: the cross section book is also my favorite and it is a great inspiration for my work

LOL. I already called first dibs in a Walker.
-
Why not ask the poor guy to do a Super Star Destroyer while you are at it, no even better, a Death Star! Sheesh!!!!
-
lol
sounds good
my next project will be the Death Star, cya in 20 years ;)
Space ships are not possible for me. I wish I had the time and the patience to make bigger projects.
But the DC-15s barrel should be finished this weekend as well as a new custom figure.
-
Simply amazing work! I have no experience with the programs being discussed in this thread, but that won't change the fact that I'm constantly in awe of your work. Simply, simply amazing. :o

Really sweet fiala, great work!
-
Excellent work on the barrel FF, I really can't wait to see the finished product, whats next on your list, the breech?
-
nice job, who knew a laser bolt required a rifled bore??
-
thx for the comments
next is the handle and the breech
-
That's great, i really cant wait to see what you create with the "guts" of the weapon, BTW the two "wires" on the end of the barrel of the DC-15 are not "sights" in the traditional manner, they are actually "reverse polarity suspension coils" to prevent negative discharge feedback that could cause a muzzle breech in the event of an overpowered load or a heating hazard during discharge of the weapon. Just in my own humble opinion LOL. Still great work, you should submit this to DK Publishing for their upcoming Clone Wars Blueprints.

wow
Thank you very much for the information VA. Your idea about the "sights" is very interesting.
You know a lot about SW weapons.
-
Wow, I forgot to get this on the fp today, but it will go up there Christoph.
I think this is just outstanding. I loved the video on Anakin's saber too.
-
Ok, remembered to get this up there.
