Topic: Tales From The Clone Wars Character Poll

Hello folks!

Hopefully if you've clicked on this topic then you're already familiar with my web-comic Tales From The Clone Wars, the latest issues of which have been dealing with a climatic battle in the Dorin system. After the Dorin arc is included, however, I thought it would be a good idea to create a standalone issue that's only semi-related to the overall storyline before diving into the next big plot arc, as a sort of 'breather'.

I already have a vague idea of what the story behind this one-off issue would be, but when it came to deciding which of the Star Wars Universe's many Jedi would take the starring role I thought who better to consult than the people who have been the most supportive of the comic as a whole? Imperial Shipyards!

So yes, by all means feel free to vote on who you would most like to see a one-off issue centred on. Also, feel free to make suggestions if there isn't an option in the poll that suits you (maybe you'd prefer to see an issue solely starring clones, or from a Separatist's viewpoint, or maybe even Jar Jar Binks! Well, maybe not that last one...), or if you have a cool idea for the sort of planet/spaceship/droid/etc you'd like to see featured at some point.

I'd like to see you use Quinlan Vos or K'Kruhk in a future one-shot!

K'kruhk is one of my all-time favourite EU Jedi, but sadly I can't find a model of him anywhere.

Quinlan Vos on the other hand, could be very interesting...

EDIT: Though now that I think about it, it might be possible to utilise the K'kruhk action figure. In theory, posing the figure then taking a photo of it against a green/blue screen would be essentially the same thing that I do with the CGI models. The only real obstacle would be coming up with a Photoshop technique to help the figure mesh well next to said CGI models.

I  may have to try that theory out; there are thousands of characters available in figure form that aren't in CGI, so figuring out a way to mesh the two mediums seamlessly would open up endless opportunities.

I'll probably be ordering a couple of figures tomorrow to test my new theory out on; hopefully have the results up by the end of the week!

I tested out meshing figures with CG models using a photo of the K'kruhk figure from Rebelscum; this is the result so far:



I've been staring at this image for the past hour now, making tiny tweaks here and there, that I can't tell anymore if I can look at it objectively enough to see if the two mediums are going well together or if the clash is too blatant that it would be distracting for a reader. Thoughts, comments and suggestions would be most helpful.

I can't say why, but I think I like your old style better though. I think if there is a way to make him look less AFigury (theres my new term of the day) I would be sold though.

It is a cool image but the figure looks too different from the clones. I think your work currently has a style all its own and would hate to see it change too much.

I think you guys are right; I thought I could pull off some Photoshop wizardry to make it work, but for now at least I think I'll have to settle for an exclusively CG cast.  Which means no K'kruhk sadly!

Yea it'll work...you just need to spice things up a bit!!!

Your Comic Novel is perfect and there really is no need to alter the format, however if you did venture into Photoshop you could really add some crazy after effects to your work. I would be more labour intensive though....

That does look very very cool, but you're right it would significantly increase 'production time' on each issue. I may do it one day, when I'm experienced enough with Photoshop to knock something up like that as easily as you can, hangarbay, but until then I'll probably have to stick with the current style.

Kualan, your current style is totally awesome, so not changing it is not really something to worry about.

And it seems like anybody who wanted to vote has done so now, so I guess it's down to a choice between Plo Koon and Luminara Unduli. I think though that, given the heavy Kel Dor presence in Volume Two so far, it might be wiser to spread out a little more and focus on other species. Luminara should provide some interesting stories to tell at any rate.
